Anyone who knows anything about OSU knows they like to make splash hires.
With Smith retiring in a year or less, the race is on to be their next AD.
I have no doubt Heather Lyke will be a candidate.
Her decade or so at TOSU gives her an insider’s view with enough distance between then and now to avoid being in a “camp”.
Her success at Pitt and her geographical proximity are two arrows in her quiver.
Obviously she is a woman so she brings the splash.
I don’t pretend to follow the inner circle of AD hierarchy, but I don’t know of any stars.
I hope she stays. She has built an athletic department with a strong foundation.
Oh…and if anyone thinks her UM background hurts her, think again. The opposite is true.
