It's a bye week, and the constant negative threads are wearing me down. One thought after watching too much football this weekend. Tons of teams have a large, mobile, run-first backup QB. Drones was that guy for VT. So when they lose their starter, they have a guy who's really good at executing a simple playbook. If a Drones turns out to be Tebow or Newton, great you just struck gold. But if not, you have a good backup or even a change of pace guy.
That feels like something Pitt should prioritize having at all times. I'm not saying the obvious that Pitt should try to find dual-threat guys. But that Pitt should almost always have a few guys that they are developing to be the next QB and then one run-first guy.
Am I onto something? Just grasping at straws?
