As we've all been wondering whether the top WPIAL recruits will go to Pitt's spring game or Penn State's on Saturday, there's an interesting wrinkle to the topic.
There is a 7-on-7 tournament in Lancaster this weekend, and the top 7-on-7 teams locally are going. The main teams are Team412 and Team Evolve (which is sponsored by Aaron Donald, incidentally), and those two teams cover pretty much all of the top local skill players. So that means most of the top local skill guys will be out of town this weekend.
Now, apparently Team412 expects to be done with its Saturday games in the morning and then head to State College for Penn State's spring game. That team includes Lamont Wade and Khaleke Hudson, among others. It sounds like Team Evolve - with Paris Ford, Therran Coleman and Damar Hamlin, to name a few - won't be going to PSU; they might head down to Philadelphia and check out Villanova that afternoon.
We're still trying to confirm if all of the team members are going to the tournament (Miles Sanders, for instance, plays for Evolve but might not be making the trip). But as it stands, it sounds like a bunch of the local skill players will be out of town this weekend. Some will go to PSU, but most of them won't be at Pitt or PSU.
