Pitt commit Tony Butler tweeted this Friday night:
"May 5th I have an announcement"
I reached out to Butler, and sure enough, that announcement will be recruiting-related. On that day, Butler will announce that he is either shutting down his recruitment or reopening it altogether. He doesn't know yet what will happen that day; he said he wants to talk things over with his family and his coaches and "evaluate the situation more." But it seems like things are getting pretty crazy for him - he used the phrase "extremely overwhelming" - so he wants to either say it's Pitt and be done with it, or open things back up and dive back into the process.
I do believe him that he doesn't know yet what he'll announce, and I also don't think this is necessarily a bad thing for Pitt. The fact that he is still unsure about whether he wants to decommit is a positive, if nothing else.
Also, Butler said he still plans to be at Pitt's spring game next Saturday.
