Strong rumors they will be joining the P12 shortly. SDSU makes sense but although being in a great market, SMU would stick out like a sore thumb. A private conservative Methodist school out on an island, geographically along with liberal blue state schools. UNLV seems like a no-brainer instead.

It's weird. The ACC's really only move is to wait (and ain't happening) for Notre Dame. Unless they come up with some sort of agreement with the Pac 12 and have some sort of BiCoastal arrangement.

You don‘t just want to add teams and have more mouths to feed. You want to IMPROVE As a conference.

Do those 2 do that? Improve the PAC 12? Or will a move like that just make other current PAC 12 members more skeptical about where things are headed? Have to wait and see what happens and what the after effects might be?

Yes, that is why all of these continuing rumors, like Clemson to here, UNC to there, Washington and Oregon to here, do those brands bring enough additional revenue to the Big 10 to increase the slices of pie? Or just have more slices that are smaller?

Should have made ND join 10 years ago. Too late now. ND would never choose the ACC over the Big or SEC.

As someone that lives in Dallas, SMU isn’t even on television. They are to the extent that thanks to ESPN3 or + or whatever, you can theoretically watch every game. But it‘s not due to being in Dallas and being the team of Dallas so you just switch to your local market game. SMU isn’t even the team of the local Dallas market.

Just because the Chargers managed to screw it up doesn't negate the value of San Diego as a market. Considering that the reach of the market overlaps into portions of Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties would enable the PAC to retain some of the market it would lose with the departures of USC and UCLA.

They aren’t retaining anything when those two leave. It’s shuffling deck chairs at this point.

Southern California (the region) is massive and highly populated. What they can do is take San Diego and Fresno State (gaining central California), along with both Nevada schools.

That and 100 bucks could maybe get them a nice wine and cheese set for those fall Saturdays.

Isn't UNLV's athletic program a mess? That Fresno State isn't being mentioned is surprising.

John Canzano strikes again, floating yet another prediction. When he finally gets one right I guess we can give him the SMF genius award.

McMurphy

Canzano is like the P12 version of The Dude, saying like high level teams will join. Still a little surprised they cant pull OK St and Texas Tech from the B12 JUCO league

Guess where McMurphy picked it up?

Nobody from the Big12 is going to the P12. It makes so little sense. Especially if this report is even close to being true. The truth is, Amazon isn't coming through with that "big" TV deal and they're going to fall further behind. More likely they'll lose a school than gain anyone relevant.

Yea, nobody is going from the B12 to P12 but they should. If you look at the 22 teams left in the P12/B12, Washington and Oregon are the strongest brands. Cal and Stanford are tremendous schools in a great market. The Phoenix and Denver markets are great. I would think a southwestern contingent of OK St, TT, maybe TCU/Baylor, Kansas would be interested in being associated with them as opposed to Mickey Mouse U, a Mormon School, WV JUCO, Iowa JUCO, etc.

Most of that is nonsense but it's nice you keep this fantasy alive.
