Not a list you want to be on, but on the plus side is it means there were some relatively high expectations for Pitt this season. With a tough schedule ahead, Pitt could do a lot to change the perception of this season by stacking some wins.

Pittsburgh (30). All of it. There is nothing to love about the 1–4 Panthers at this point, after establishing themselves as a pretty consistent winner in recent years. Their only victory is over an FCS opponent, they’ve lost four straight and four ranked teams lie ahead on the schedule. On Monday, coach Pat Narduzzi announced that he’s benching starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec for the game against Louisville on Saturday in favor of Penn State transfer Christian Veilleux, a product of Ottawa, Canada.

pretty funny article All the Money, All the Staff and analytics. How are Coaches Still Flunking Close Game Logic?
They just pound Cristobal, Freeman, Fisher and Riley for making 9-10 million dollars a year and having all the staff and resources and all of them made completely bone headed calls this past weekend.

I couldn’t agree more. Add the Nard Dawg to that list now too

And add Dumbo Swinney to the list. Fourth and goal from the 6 inch line, he has Cade Klubfeet from the shot gun run a designed naked boot and loses ten yards to end the game.

Swinney said after the game it was a designed handoff and Klubnik kept it on his own.

Clemson has had some bad turnover luck this year.

They actually rank fairly well in the analytics. Not elite “elite.” But Top 20. And your analytic ranking is far more predictive of year to year success than your record actually is when you look at the numbers.

On Saturday their RB is about to go into the end zone against Miami and fumbles and Miami recovers.

Next play the Miami RB runs 80 yards, fumbles as he’s about to cross the goal line and Miami recovers in the end zone for the TD.

Just dumb bad luck.

In a short sample size, which through Week 8 actually is, you can have a lot of those games where the luck doesn’t balance out. That’s why Phil Steele has his turnover margin page in the preseason mag every year. To highlight teams it didn’t balance out for over the course of the season.

With that being said:

Clemson still is only about 20 in all the analytic models. Which means the downward fall in quality has continued. Which means bad turnover luck is probably going to hurt you more when you’re playing 20 to 25 top teams like Duke and Miami.

Clemson is a shell of what they were 3 years ago. They lack talent offensively and Klubnik just isn't very good. Not saying he won't be, but he sure has a long way to go.

Yep. Even with double digit wins every year, Clemson doesn't pass the eye test anymore. There's a clear separation between them and the top programs in the country now.

It's still a stupid call to have your QB in shot gun on 3rd or 4th and a yard or less for any team. As long as they continue to allow players to line up behind the QB and shove him forward. And Cristobal called a TO when he saw them come out and line up in the gun so he changed his D. This gave Dumbo an opportunity to change the play and get his 6-4 qb under center. The guy doing the game was practically begging Clemson to not go in the shot gun when they broke the huddle after the TO.

I agree, I never like lining up in the shotgun from the goal line, I was just pointing out it was not a designed QB or or an option for the QB to run.
