thom, I had forgotten that Sherrill was forced out. I thought TAM had hired him for more $$ than what we (Pitt) were willing to pay. Promoting Foge to HC was a mistake (he was an excellent position coach) and, well, the rest is downhill from there ...

Losing Whipple didn't kill Pitt football, but hiring Cignetti did.

1) Contributed to Addison leaving

2) Contributed to a 2022 team that was more talented than at least 10 or 11 teams on its scheduled sputtering out and losing four games, instead of being the fringe playoff contender it should have been

3) Brought in Steve Blass to play QB in 2023, leading Pitt to have its worst season in 26 years... which, in turn, caused defensive talent to run away from the mess after the season

I know there was a push to bring American players back but I'd have to think the better players can still make much more money overseas. Courtney Buzzerio came back from Italy/France and will play for Atlanta this year but she also started coaching at Holy Cross (Assistant) so I think that's part of her motivation.

He won't be the last one asked to leave or forced out.

6A doesn’t have enough teams to coordinate with the other classifications. It makes no sense to reserve 2 weekends at Acrisure for HS playoffs in which hardly anyone attends and the field is going to potentially get wrecked.

Indiana is a good example of what Pitt could be with NIL money. Yes, historically not much support but apparently that's changed.

I know they do. And that still doesn't mean that going 6-6 (4-6 against the P4) impresses me. I didn't comment on whether or not teams do it; I said it's not impressive.

And the hypothetical you responded to was that I would rather go from 0-5 to 5-7 than 7-0 to 7-5. So, that's what we were talking about. I feel like you're toggling between this hypothetical and reality right now.

I don't, but I have followed sports long enough to recognize historical trends. And Pierre, who is often plugged in, mentioned there being an issue with certain guys having attended the LSU game a month or so ago. Multiple people have also pointed out sideline bickering and finger pointing last week. Could be something; could be nothing.

If I had six wins, I'd rather opt out and get to recruiting the portal over playing in some bottom tier bowl game. Pitt took crap for doing that in basketball (opting out of the consolation tournament) but I'd say that looks like the right move in retrospect.

They totally list all teams receiving votes and how many. It sets the stage for who typically moves up when top 25 teams lose. I understood what he meant by top 35.
