Live by the NIL Sword, Die by the NIL….

NIL is a one way street. Without firm contracts that impose fines and such, Prime Time is starting to see the downside. This article explains Colorado’s lackluster performance at the Alamo Bowl.

“Heading into the Alamo Bowl, the Colorado Buffaloes weren’t just battling BYU on the field; they were also battling off-field struggles. According to Jason Whitlock, the team had run out of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) funds, forcing them to operate on a tight budget. While BYU players enjoyed lavish gift bags and a classic bowl experience, Colorado’s players were left wanting more.”

NET Quadrant information.

I knew *some* of this but not all - just an fyi here:

Men's college basketball teams are rated for quadrants based on their opponents' NET rankings and the location of the game:

  • Quadrant 1
Home games against teams ranked 1–30, neutral games against teams ranked 1–50, and away games against teams ranked 1–75

  • Quadrant 2
Home games against teams ranked 31–75, neutral games against teams ranked 51–100, and away games against teams ranked 76–135

  • Quadrant 3
Home games against teams ranked 76–160, neutral games against teams ranked 101–200, and away games against teams ranked 136–240

  • Quadrant 4
Home games against teams ranked 161–353, neutral games against teams ranked 201–353, and away games against teams ranked 241–353
The NCAA uses the quadrant system to help determine which teams are selected for the NCAA Tournament:
  • Quad 1 wins: Considered "good wins" and are a strong indicator of a team's resume
  • Quad 4 losses: Considered "bad losses" and can significantly hurt a team's chances of making the tournament

The NCAA's NET rankings are a primary metric used by the selection committee to determine seeding. The NET rankings are updated nightly and are based on an algorithm that considers the outcome of games.

OT: Notre Dame Football Legacies

Maybe legacy isn’t the right word…but when I saw Ryan Clark’s son make a tackle, it reminded me of a picture that Jerome Bettis shared of his son and Plaxico Burgess’ son, along with another former steeler son who is/will be playing at ND.

So I went to the roster and spotted another handful of players, whose fathers were pro/college athletes.

Do you spot any? There’s a bunch.

I’ll start. —Rocco Spindler.
