Just watched Franklin's post-game presser. He said the officials told him it was legal. OK, so why bring it up and make an excuse. You just admitted you didn't know a rule that affected your team. After watching it on DVR, the first drive where they had a ball snapped over McSorely's head, Franklin was livid with the officials. So, that's just one example of Narduzzi outcoaching Franklin. He knows PSU goes on a clap cadence. Pitt clapped, ball snapped early. PSU punts.

Better yet how is it he didn't know Pitt claps on D to adjust in the first place? They did it against Nova ... I haven't looked up last year but Nards said they did this at MSU as well ..a team PSU regularly faces...

Excuse indeed.

And of course the penn state boards have people calling it "illegal" which is bunk. But just as in the ancient past .... Clapping is 2016s version of " they didn't send game tapes "... And the minions eat it right up.

not only that, we're not the only team in college football that does this. It's no different than their offense getting in their stances, pretending to snap the ball fast only to all get up and look for the play at the sidelines. I'm not sure how an OL can get in his stance (with his hand on the ground) then come up again...I thought that was false start.

I am ok with all of this, as it gives me another weapon in my rapidly growing arsenal of insults for my PSU fan buddies. I can't wait to use the clapping bit over and over!

Yeah that was a dumb thing to admit in the press conference. Not knowing a rule comes off as really bad.

Its one thing to admit you didn't know the rule. Its another thing to be completely unprepared for the possibility Pitt might also use clap signals as well. Unless Narduzzi is lying he said they did that vs Nova and at MSU.

RIGHT?

How many successful D1 teams in college football use clapping for offensive cadence???
I can see it being used on defense but not offense!
Sounds like a minor league idea probably from the new O coordinator.
