This book chronicles not just Pitt's 13-9 win over West Virginia in 2007, but also the season that led up to that game - a season that was full of adversity, absurdity and every conceivable twist and turn.

The 13-9 win was a turning point for Pitt's program, but it means a lot more when you consider the whole context of the season. So that's what we did with this book, and now you can get as a paperback. I think it's the perfect stocking stuffer for the Pitt fan in your life.

It’s sad if you don’t remember what that season was like. If you remember it, you likely recall that an easily-dismissed 5-7 season is actually the story of a team that battled adversity - some self-inflicted, some not - and persevered, coming out on the other side with one of the great wins in Pitt history.

When I saw this, all I could think was God, please let this be a joke!
As if our program wasn't a laughing stock all year (OSU game, YSU game, free drink if you stay the full game, etc), now a book celebrating a losing season. I didnt click on the link....someone could lie to me and make me feel better by saying it directs you to a porn site or something.

Like it or not, it is one of the biggest wins in Pitt history. I wouldn't say this book celebrates a 5-7 season. More that it gives you behind the scenes of what led up to the historic win. My guess anyway as I haven't read it yet. I think its a great idea for a book for a micro-niche market. I plan on reading it.

Well, yeah, I don't think anyone would disagree given the option of 11-1 or 5-7. But again, this book isn't just about a 5-7 team; it's a story, a retrospective on how a team rebounded from a challenging season to score a big and really unlikely win.

Finished the book, well authored and many interesting nuggets. The story was a little short on character development which makes for a very short book I was able to start/finish on one flight. I love to read about my panthers and relive this memorable event. Obviously Chris is a sports journalist and the recap of the games and plays is engaging, I just wanted to get inside the heads of Shady, Wanny, Rhodes and Jeff Long more.

Every Pitt fan should buy this book. It has a very happy ending!

The fact that Pit was 4-7 going in and a 28.5 underdog was what made the book possible.

One thing that will always stand out to me was when Rich Rodriquez was talking to the press after the game and you could hear the Pitt players in the background celebrating like crazy.

That wasn't a bad team but we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot and lost some close games we should have never lost. The double overtime loss to Navy was one were fans were up in arms over the coaching in that game.
