2 big visitors for Louisville

I used to complain about the apathy, ineptitude and poor decisions made by this program, resulting is mediocrity for most of the past 40 years.

But paying players on an uneven playing field has turned CFB into major league baseball.

I quit the pirates decades ago, and i suppose its time to turn the lights out on Pitt
People like you are why Pitt gets left in the dust. People who care about their school or team look for ways to help, not run away.

Not trying to take a side here, but I genuinely do not think that any of us "fans" are the reason that Pitt gets left in the dust as you said. The AD and her department have a bigger responsibility in why the program has lost its footing again.

I would like to add that I do go to the games with 4 friends and try to add to the game day atmosphere. We have been doing so for over the last 25+ years. We have sat through rain and snow storms, temperatures below 10 degrees, with a wind chill near zero. We will continue to do so, even with the horrible OC the program currently has. I know that I not only speak for myself, but for my 4 friends as well (all of us are Pitt grads with varying degrees) when I say that we will not be contributing any money to the Alliance 412 group. If other want to do so, awesome!! Go for it! Something just doesn't feel right about this situation for us. Seems to be a lot of financial information that is being kept undisclosed. That seems to be a red flag to all of us. By the way, why isn't the University of Pittsburgh taking some money out of its rather large endowment to help fund NIL deals for all of the Pitt athletes.

I posted before, I agree with this totally, it is insane that the fans have to fund the players, but for now this is the had we are dealt with in order to compete.

And I don't know the legalities but I think universities can't dip into endowments to fund NIL. Too many red flags on that one.

College football is a big business. Schools rely on their alumni, fans and boosters to financially support the program.

It seems like you are one of those types that must have the last word. Im good with that.

We will never meet in the middle and im good with that, too.

I do not believe Pitt is truly invested in being a power in football. I believe Pitt is happy to be in the ACC just to pay the bills.

I will continue to give to my alma mater.

But since i believe pitt football is half assing their way through the CFB landscape, i will not reward this approach by paying players.

I respect your passion and commitment, but i do not wish to help when the end goal is to be nothing more than pedestrian.

Simple answer on the endowment and it’s been posted dozens and dozens of times.

Because they can’t.

College players need to think bigger. UNIONIZE. Use their leverage. They have become professionals in every sense and deserve to be paid by their employers for their labors. Not by fans. A players union could bargain for real money, tapping into that huge pool of TV money. That is where the gold is. A union could serve to level the playing field at least somewhat.

Panteras, I would love to buy you a beer. Agree 100%. Not truly invested. That is Pitt. Breaks my heart, but how much more evidence do we need?

That’s BS. The facts are listed in the article. People like YOU are the problem. Pitt fans are not invested and that’s the problem.

What's happened to the Pirates was an awakening to me. It made me realize that I was never a baseball fan and just a Pirates fan, since 1992 I haven't watched a full baseball game on TV other than the Pirates playoff games between 2013-15. But football, I find I will still watch a lot of games even when my teams suck.

Unionize the players and let them bargain for their fair share of the pie.

Pitt is not my alma mater. I choose to root for them And will probably never give them up. But this is sport, and the budget goes only so far. I’m not willing to take from somewhere else to spend more on Pitt. Not after 50 years Of subsidizing mediocrity. Blaming fans is crazy. I appreciate your passion nonetheless.

don't complain about 6-6 seasons then.
You don't have to donate money to pay players to be able to complain, players have been paid for a century now, BY SUPER RICH DONORS WITH BIG EGOS and GIANT BANK ACCOUNTS, this whole thing where they expect average alumni and fans to give money to pay for high school kids to visit or even join the team, is all new, I personally think that an average person, with a middle class job and a family, is stupid to do anything beyond buying some tickets, or attending a few games when they feel like it, instead they should save that money FOR THEIR OWN KIDS, instead of giving it to someone else's kids they don't even know, some of whom will become millionaires in a few years in the NFL or NBA.
