Look at rivals recruiting from 2015 through 2018.....Penn State and Notre Dame have dominated PA recruiting.

We will never get all the recruit but we need to move in on those two big time... Looking back 2012 -2014 we did and it resulted in boyd, dojo, bookser, biz nasty, shell (still i know),

Whatever plan we have part of it needs to combat Notre Dame in this area. Obviously Penn State is going to be an instate battle, but Notre Dame has got to go

Just food for thought.

Who has Penn state got in football those years out of Pittsburgh? Notre Dame kicked tail last year getting the top player, but Raines was next, he went to WVU, then Zubovic, who went to us. Major, MSU, Hooker-OSU, Green-Pitt, Kradel-Pitt, Danielson-Pitt. 2 years ago we got the top player, Ford, and the midget went to ups. ND ate both our lunches again that year.

2016 they got the top in Sanders, but we got Hamlin who was 1b, Hudson went to Michigan, then we got all the other top guys, Pugh, Garner, Coleman, Mathews, Wheeler.

The last 2 years has been really weak. Would have been great to get Jurkovic and Sanders that is about all we whiffed on.

Doesn’t matter where the heck they are going, imo the appearance now is they don’t give a flying flip about Pitt and there’s no holding back of rubbing it in Pitt’s face.

Speaking of the top guys of course.... Pitt is not on the radar.

Losing Saturday night the way they did created A LOT of damage to recruiting, especially locally. They need to win and turn it around, fast.

So everyone Pitt got PSU didn't want? Sure.
Would this really surprise you? It's not the 80s anymore. From my recollection the only genuine recruiting battles Pitt wins over PSU are WPIAL kids and those have been drying up since Terry Smith got there.

This isn't unique. Rutgers can't land a kid PSU wants either. This exact dynamic happened for PSU against Ohio State nearly across the board for the past two decades. Only in the past couple years has PSU started snagging guys that the buckeyes really want.

It's a long slow grind to the top that starts with talent analysis and development and hopefully ends with scoring some upsets when your second tier talent is more experienced than the opposition.

That is the idea of simpleton flamers sure, but in reality we got quite a few like Hamlin, Ford, Mathews, Weaver, Pugh, and others. We still get more than we lose to psu in Pittsburgh, that is for sure. Just the last couple years have been very lean in top talent.

Pittsburgh area as a whole only had one top 250 prospect last year, and that was Jurkovic at #87

This year there are ZERO. In fact the entire PA has only 2:

#241 Keith MacGuire going to Clemson
#250 Hayden Rucci going to WIsconsin

Doesnt get any better, 2020 only has one, that is Michael Carmody

Spot on....to even remotely suggest Pitt is doing ANYTHING comparable to State wrt recruiting is ridiculous

This board is a friggin hoot.

Pitt is sandwiched between 2 schools that have huge fan bases (OSU and PS). Then you add in ND who has the biggest name recognition coming in and poaching top players. Michigan is another marquee name, and they have poached the area over the years. The talent pool in Western PA is drying up. Pitt is in a very difficult position.
