2016 Recruiting Rankings for Men's CBB and Pitt not even in top 40

Good god look who your comparing Pitt to , two of the finest universities that exist ( ND and Stanford ) a basketball elite( Ind) and an excellent school in a weathly section of Philly with a local recruiting base any coach would die for. I think Pitt tried to recruit with the big boys over estimating the draw of the ACC ,they lost all those battles and the kids next up realized they weren't the prime targets and went elsewhere were they were the prime targets.
Pitts a fine university ,they play in a fine faculty ,they play in the strongest conference ,they do have a good coach, but so do a lot of other schools . Pitt has no local recruiting base, kids from the east don't seem to gravitate to the ACC schools ,kids from the Midwest go to the Big 10, southern kids stay south. Elite kids go to elite programs. Quite a pickle huh!
I went to the game at Miami what a campus . Oakland ( 5th and Forbes concrete ) vs Coral Gables ( green grass ,palm trees , outdoor pools ,restaurants and girls ), 10 degrees vs 70 . I can't see how Pitt could compete with them let alone Duke ,UNC ,and Louisville for players.
If you wish to believe that everything is equal in college athletics who am I to tell you otherwise. They need to get back to recruiting Pitt style basketball players and with next years additions I think they're on the way.
To me all you have done is give excuses. Look, getting back to a point I made in a different thread earlier, there should be no reason that Pitt has only had 2 McDonald's All-Americans in like 20 years. Yeah okay we're not Duke or UNC but c'mon, totally ridiculous.

I never said everything is equal. My point is that using the excuse that running a clean and successful program is impossible is bogus. But based on your post you buy the excuses and give him some more.

I just believe that recruiting to Pitt isn't as easy as some think. Could they do a better job absolutely . I feel they need to find guys flying under the radar. Banging heads with Kansas over Dialio a major waste of time and $

UConn has been one of the top programs in the country over the past 20 years. They were garbage for the majority of their history prior to the 90's.

No I accept reality I wish they could recruit like Ky but that's just a pipe dream. Forty or fifty top programs want you would Pitt be at the top of your list ?

The NCAA has caught them twice once for recruiting violations the other for failing to meet academic standards. How many violations did they miss ?

This constant defense that Dixon is a good coach who is handcuffed because he's honest and makes his kids go to class is a weak excuse. ND has pretty strict standards and seems to be doing fine.Stanford,Vilanova,Indiana, etc. Its great that he runs a clean program but that doesn't excuse it's downward spiral.
How well would Nova do in the ACC?? Stanford is pretty awful in a weak PAC-12. You may recall we stomped the Cardinal a couple years ago?? JD's record over Wright is probably as good, or better, than anyone's.
We certainly are only average this year, but will make the NCAA tourney. Still have one ship to give this spring/summer, add 5 new guys to the playing squad.....let's see if Pitt's best BB coach ever still has some juice.

Check Villanova's tourney record compared to Dixon. And they would do fine in the ACC. Many of you Jamie supporters seem to accept Pitts decline as inevitable. As if Pitt is somehow an inferior institution . I disagree. Dixon "was" a Good coach who had a successful record here but sometimes a change is necessary. That time may be approaching the Pitt bb program. Good and even great coaches are replaced.(Noll,Landry,McGuire, etc) if that happens I thank him and wish him luck! H2P

Check Wright's record vs. Dixon. I haven't accepted a decline. It's normal to have some under-achieving seasons. I'm thinking we come back a bit stronger next year. Still need to recruit tougher defenders...no doubt about that. It'd give us more chances at runouts, fewer offensive rebounds given up. A swing of 5-6 more stops would mean a lot.

Very true, NTOP. I think if we would have had 5 or 6 more stops in any of our losses, even with some of the point disparities, we might have won at least 2 more games, maybe more. The dynamics of the games would have changed.

We will NOT make the ncaa this year or next! Save this post. Dixonites need to start setting their goals of the NIT, and as long as we make that, Dixon should be here forever

If we win the games we're supposed to win, we make it this year. That is pretty clear, even to Dixon haters like you. Or maybe not, since you do not seem to understand anything about Pitt or the selection process for the NCAA's. Now you can go on back to being a nitter.

Duke cheats as well, so does UNC, so does SU, so does L'Ville, so did UCLA under Wooden. We are in the deep end of the pool Junior.

Well senior if they cheat and I doubt that Duke needs too how do you compete if your not ?

Chris Duhon, Lance Thomas, and Corey Maggette - 3 guys in which cheating occurred. There are probably a lot more, but these 3 are well publicized.

Elaborate was Duke sanctioned?
Even so what difference does it make it Pitt doesn't ?

Ray Kroc ,but he's pasted on so he couldn't help this years team.

Fun fact, Ray Kroc did not invent the Big Mac. It was actually invented by one of his first franchisees (I forget the guy's name) and was first sold at that guy's store in Uniontown, PA. It was such a hit that within a year they were selling Big Macs at all McDonalds in the US.

That is the point - nobody cares. Those teams all have national championships.
No you don't care others do and the most important ones are the ones that run the university and they care. Like I said somewhere I'd love to see NBA talent in Pitt jerseys it's just not going to happen very often because it's not that important to the decision makers.

Duke, UNC, UCLA, and Kansas are all excellent universities that bend the rules (polite term) or cheat (harsher word). Do u think an alums degree is tarnished in any way or do u think their admin. really cares? We are not playing in the Ivy Leagues. You are either in or out.

UCLA's cheating during the Wooden era was Calipari-esque, and the recruitment of Shabazz Muhammad and others while Howland was there was notoriously shady. Since we can reasonably assume shenanigans during Larry Brown's tenure you can pretty safely say UCLA basketball has been corrupt for the greater part of the last 50 years.

Dellagatti was the franchisee who created the Big Mac.

You are selling the cheating at UCLA when Wooden was there way, way short. There is no one anywhere in the country today that is cheating the way that UCLA did back in the day. And UCLA wasn't the only one doing it back then. They were just the best at it.

Being that the fans and alums really only have the power to not attend games and donate they have no say in the moral compass the university follows. According to some athletic donations are pathetic anyway and with billions in endowments I don't think the university feels threatened by those wishing to cheat to win in Fb or Bb. You don't have to convince me you need to convince the chancellor and the board to cheat. Good luck with that.

Miami will eventually head back to the pack no matter how nice their campus is...That nice campus (for basketball) did them a lot of good 30 yrs or so ago didn't it? They had no basketball program at all.And when it was revived they were far from good for a long period of time. The biggest difference for them now is the coach.Once he goes they go.As for Villanova, they will be found out to be overated just like last year. This isn't the old big east.Do you think they're #1 in the nation good? I don't...
