For awhile now, the 2017 WPIAL class has been said to be loaded. A lot of good talent in it, lot of players that lined up with what Pitt needed and seemed to have a great shot with. Let's see how it is looking according to rivals.
#1 - Lamont Wade - down to a few schools... Pitt, Tennessee, and maybe PSU seem to be the leaders. I was confident about him coming to Pitt but now.... not as confident. He does seem like he would want to play with other talented people and... well.
#2 - Paris Ford - glad to have him
#3 - Robert Hainsey - he isnt in the WPIAL anymore but he's going to ND too. Of course he is.
#4 - Josh Lugg - he said he grew up a Pitt fan and was a season ticket holder. He started the mass exodus to ND.
#5 - David Adams - from right down the street... probably would have started next year.
#6 - Donovan Jeter - the biggest miss. Not even a question. I dont think the staff could have done anything different BUT that doesnt mean they should have missed out on him.
#7 - CJ Thorpe - wow, a kid that actually didnt go to ND from the WPIAL. SHOCKING.
#8 - Kurt Hinish - another one time "lock" to Pitt [like Adams]...... yet he talks to jeter and gets him to reconsider taking a visit to ND
So yeah, we are 1 for 8 on top WPIAL kids. ND came in and took half of them. Pathetic. ND has come in and single handily wrecked a potential top 20 class that could have been built on the back of local kids.
For how prideful people are concerning Pittsburgh, you would think people would actually act on it. So much for #stayhome412
