You can not run the ball on 2nd down with 30 seconds left for the exact reason they played out. Getting stuffed on 2nd down led to a quick play on 3rd down. Effectively that cost us both 2nd and 3rd.
The play Watson should call on 2nd is one that allows Pickett to roll out and potentially run it in, throw a TD, or throw the ball away if no one is open. An incompletion on 2nd down still gives us time to draw up better plays on 3rd and 4th down.
