3:30 for Pitt @ Penn State

It's because Pitt is not good, IMO if we had a few 10-2 seasons and where considered real contenders, we'd get better time slots. We get noon because they want us out of the way for the teams that bring ratings.
im not sold on that.. Pitt does very well in ratings. I understand not bumping tosu from the 8pm ABC slot here but you cant tell me a 3:30pm game on espnU is above us.

This is part of the "bad luck." The noon ABC/ESPN2 is the 3rd best time slot of the day for ESPN's ratings behind ABC 8PM and ABC/ESPN2 3:30. They wanted the game on network TV rather than cable.....but to do it, it had to get bumped to noon to make room for the ACC heavyweights at 3:30 and 8.

Like last year, it wasn't viewed as as good of a game in the offseason so it got ESPN2 3:30 (no ABC mirror). As fans, we would prefer ESPN2 or ESPNU at 3:30 but ESPN wants it on network TV. Just sucks I'll probably have to watch it on TV.

I've been doing this for steeler games, DVR'ing it so I can forward the commercials and the 20 instant replays that have become a mandatory part of every nfl game.. love it.. DVR it, start watching around 2:30pm(ish), get done in about an hour.. no commercials, no replays, no halftime, it's beautiful..

i'll have to do this with pitt home games, the ones that are on tv anyways, and not the ones on espn9.com that we seem to get one or two of every year. maybe some day in the distant future, we'll be lucky enough to get a 3:30pm or (gasp), evening home game where parents like me can do the dad thing AND go to a game.. who knows, anything is possible.

No idea how people pull this off with Social Media, texting, and friends telling you the score while trying to catch up. I'm never successful at this and hate knowing the score if I'm watching a game

This is the dream. Just the thought that it could be possible to attend your kids' youth activities Saturday morning or early afternoon and STILL attend a Pitt home game is enough to keep the dream alive.

Seriously though, I think ACC Network will help with this. They will do noon, 3:30, and 7PM games every week or dare I say 1:00 (the horror!!!), 4:30, and 8?

I do this quite a bit. Its extremely simple. Here's what you do:

Shut your phone off.

Thats it.

I do it all the time, but I live in Baltimore, and nobody cares about Pittsburgh teams, so I almost always pull it off.

Yup. Don't look at social media, or internet, do something else. I often will come home, listen to music, BBQ something, mow the lawn maybe then turn on the game.

Let's try again people.

PITT DOES NOT DETERMINE KICKOFF TIMES FOR POWER 5 OPPONENTS. They might get to pick YSU or a game vs. a MAC school but not for games that ESPN is going to air. Period.

Therefore Pitt has no "affinity" for noon starts, the network determines when based on numerous factors.
That's not completely true. Pitt certainly can have some input. How much input we can debate, but its not a unilateral decision.

Blame Narduzzi. He's said in the past that he prefers noon games. It's not a coincidence
