36-69 Win-Loss Record for Scott Drew

Scott Drew’s Record after his first 4 seasons at Baylor.
Took over a program that not only had no basketball history, but was given the "near death penalty," not being allowed to play non-conference games his first year. After the Dennehy murder/cover-up. It was the most serious NCAA sanction since SMU and more serious than PSU's rape cover-up wrist slap.

In other words Drew was in about the same position as Capel was after the Stallings debacle. A team gutted and devoid of talent. Isn’t the clown crew on here saying 3 years is enough time to turn things around? Isn’t the clown crew rationale that you only need 8 good players and a turnaround should happen quickly?

Stop it. He took over a program that most thought would get the Death Penalty. Recruiting was impossible the first couple years because of that.

drew is showing a program can recover. not sure what capel is showing. we have had 3 years of locker room meltdowns, end of year collapses and roster turnover.

but its all okay because the 4th and 5th year of capel will somehow do a 180.... regardless of what his history at oklahoma shows on top of 3 years here.

nothing to see here we are fine

He had money backing him and a path to cheat to turn it around. Baylor is a vile institution and Drew took advantage. I guess kudos to him and Baylor since it is a results-oriented business.

Laughable for anyone to suggest this is why Jeff Capel should get more time, he has shown absolutely nothing, this program has no plan or direction and all the talent he does get leaves out the door
36-69 after 4 seasons at Baylor. If that were Pitt there is NO WAY the Chicken Little fan base and media would have given him a pass. There wouldn’t have been a 5th year. Pitt was a major rebuild when Capel took over and people need to at least see how our roster ends up before continually bashing the program.

Dude, Drew took over a program where he COULD NOT recruit, like at all, the first couple years because everyone thought they were getting the Death Penalty. You cant be serious with this. Then in his 3rd season, NCAA penalties were finally handed down. They did not get the Death Penalty and he could then begin to recruit. Really, Year 4 was like Year 1 for him.

Not close.

Have you sat down with Jc and discussed his plans ?

Lol obviously not? Do you see a vision or a bright future for this hoops program right now? Because you’d be the only person on earth
No I don’t .What I see so far is a man who just like his two previous predecessors hasn’t been able to close the deal on the players they really want . Why , I have no idea , I don’t know if he’s losing those players because of extra benefits being provided at other schools or that they feel that there’s just better places to spend your college bb yrs .

If I was a 4* high school senior the only programs I’d choose Pitt over in the ACC would be BC and WF and I’m a Pitt fan .

If I was JC I’d start trying to find guys being overlooked by major programs because of size who can really play . Look at UCLAs pg 5’10 maybe , but awesome . Find guys who can really shoot , but are a step slow or guys who play D or rebound but aren’t offensively gifted . They need to do something different than what they are doing , that’s for sure !

You could argue Pitt was in worse shape

You could argue Pitt was in worse shape

Perhaps if Marcus Carr had murdered Terrell Brown, and Stallings tried to accuse Brown of being a drug dealer to cover up his own NCAA violations of paying players, followed by NCAA investigations, full release for every player, post-season ban and a process that would drag on and lead to a ban on all OOC games in Drew's (or in this hypothetical case, Capel's) third year.
I don't think there is a situation comparable to Baylor, tbh.

This is probably the craziest post I've ever seen on this board. Comparing a national scandal to Stallings is nuts. Nobody that Capel is recruiting now even knows who Stallings is or that he went 0-18.

You people do not understand. When Drew took the job, most people believed Baylor would get the death penalty. That meant for the first couple years, he could not recruit. Try selling against, "hey kid, why go to Baylor, they have sucked forever and will be getting the death penalty soon so you will have to transfer." Nothing compares to what Drew took over.

Drew also had one year of HC experience before he got the job, and not a terribly impressive one.

But... would that have been worse?

And you’re idiotic. It’s absurd to argue and throw stupid insults on a message board. Grow up
Maybe. But I’ll continue to stand by it.

A player murdered another player. The head coach tried to cover it up (among many other things). Anyone who thinks that Pitt was in worse shape than Baylor is absurd.

You and me don't agree much but we do here 100% What PSU did with child rape is comparable, not Pitt and mismanagement by administration for 30 plus years, but PSU is even worse .....

The NCAA is a joke. The lack of or relatively light punishment absolutely makes cheating (or just about doing anything) worthwhile.

The Tarkanian quote from back in the day while funny rings true. “The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky they're going to give Cleveland State another year of probation.”
