It'll be interesting to see how they distribute tickets. I had season tickets last year but didn't renew due to the pandemic. Did they even send out renewals? If they did, I probably just ignored it. Really what they should do is have the top season ticket holders by priority points pick, say 5 games, then have the next batch pick 5, etc, etc until all seats are sold.

The guidelines say 10% of capacity, with a max of 3750. Pete capacity is about 12,500, so that would mean 1,250 max.

Yea, you're right although they are again not clear as to what is meant by maximum occupancy. There are 12,508 seats in the Pete but the arena can probably hold close to 14K with portable bleachers in the upper endzone and standing room so is the maximum occupancy like the fire-code limit? Or are they going by seating?

What really doesnt make sense is that areans 10K and under are allowed 15% so if Pitt eliminated 2500 seats, they'd be allowed to have 1500 fans.

It’s probably whatever number is listed on the fire marshal permits. It’s still not going to be 37,500 to allow the full 10%. I think it’s probably close to 20,000.

I am sure that all the people who put in their deposit a couple weeks ago when they were asked to do so if they were interested in attending games this season if fans were going to be allowed will all have precedence over all the people who ignored them or couldn't bring themselves to part with the $100.

But hey, if there are any tickets at all left over after the people who put their deposits in are fully and completely satisfied, then yeah, people who had tickets last year but couldn't be bothered to let them know they were interested for this year should be next on the list before random people off the streets.

From the email that went out on September 17:

"The University of Pittsburgh Ticket Office is now accepting ticket deposits for the 2020-21 Pitt Men’s Basketball season. Your $100 deposit will ensure your priority to purchase tickets for upcoming games at the Petersen Events Center once current government-mandated attendance restrictions are lifted. "

OK, now I do remember that. I kinda thought they sent something but I barely looked at it.

I would have to think students and parents would have first priority.

Heinz is allowed 7500 but only selling 5500 as the other 2000 are players, coaches, media, TV, families, etc.

So if we say the actual capacity of the Pete 14,000 including players, coaches, TV, etc, I'd say around 1000 tickets would be available to the public
