Can still remember watching TD at Pitt Stadium -- taking the pitch, making the sharp cut, and turning on the jets. He cut a graceful and stylish figure as he weaved his way through the defense.

Hail to Pitt.

You bring back memories of a great era. In addition to your terrific description I would add TD escaping so artfully with the tear away jersey. I can see it as if it was yesterday defenders reaching and grabbing at his jersey hoping to get a piece of him only to be holding a piece of his jersey as he sped downfield.

Good original post and follow up posts.

Was thinking the same thing about those tear away jerseys. Not to take anything away from what a special player TD was (he was beyond amazing), but I sometimes wonder how many more yards someone like Conner or McCoy or Graham or Lewis or Heyward or Richards or even Martin might have had at Pitt had they played with the tear away jersey too.

Still, none would have come close to Tony D's 6526 (except maybe Lewis and McCoy had they stayed 4 years). To think Dorsett has more than twice as many yards as any other Pitt RB except Conner (and he almost has twice as much as him), just shows how truly special he was. And it wasn't like he just put up big numbers against weak teams. He put up over 300 yards against a top 10 Norte Dame team.
