1. The rivalry should continue it is good for PA football and recruiting. PSU will not because they feel as though they are "Rivals" in the Big Ten (Ohio st/Michigan). Not true. PSU needs to embrace this game for the national exposure and geo rival alone.

2. Pitt needs to improve its speed and athleticism defensively. PERIOD. Played a great game but can not keep up with elite teams in pass pro.

3. Barkley is the REAL deal. It was 11 on 1 and he kept it a game. (QB back played a great 2nd half because of attention given to Barkley. Obviously I hope PSU doesn't ever beat PITT in my life time, but Barkley is a talent worth the price of admission.

4. PSU and PITT both have outstanding and creative offensive coordinators. It was great to see the run game from PITT. Unfortunately, but credit to PSU for half time adjustments. Both helped make for an instant "classic".

5. Ejuan, Rori (aside from car indecent), and James are perfect examples of hard work, persistence, and team first paying off in big moments.

#H2P ....what an unbelievable day.

PS. Jeter and Wade.....can't wait to see you guys in uniform next year.

The athleticism will come with better recruiting

Thankfully Barkley will only play one more time against Pitt but we have another 365 days to enjoy this win.

-I think heat hurt our Dline. Price and Jarrett didn't seem to be nearly as dominant in the 2nd half and we couldn't get consistent pressure on the QB. On the final Penn State drive we sat back and got burnt badly for doing so and not getting QB pressure before the int.

You are right that the defense needs more talent, but it felt like they were fatigued in the second half. They were in dark uniforms (probably a poor choice for the day) and on the field for a very long time.

Pitt possessed the ball for 35-1/2 minutes to Penn State's 24-1/2. If that is the defense being on the field too much there certainly is a problem, but it isn't the one you think it is.

Stadium stats had it wrong then. After three quarters they listed Penn State with the ball for over 29 minutes.

Believe me, I didn't see it but that is no surprise. It was actually Pitt that had the ball for over 29 minutes at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was the only one that Penn State had the ball more than Pitt. In both the first and third quarters Pitt had the ball for over 10 minutes.

YEa, plus I saw limited rotation at the DT and NT spots. DE is a little deeper. Also I like Caprara he makes plays, but he can not defend in space vs the likes of Barkley.

PSU needs to embrace this game for the national exposure and geo rival alone. Ideally, but being in separate leagues makes it hard, they do have a hard time hammering it in every year with the need to get 7 home games, and they have more to lose with it as yesterday highlights, so they are not as motivated to keep it going.

2. Pitt needs to improve its speed and athleticism defensively. PERIOD. Played a great game but can not keep up with elite teams in pass pro. Absolutely, losing Hendrix is a real blow, it would be nice to have his talent to pair up with Price at DE, and just for quality depth. They have the first wave at DB in the chute, but normal progression with freshman.

Obviously I hope PSU doesn't ever beat PITT in my life time, but Barkley is a talent worth the price of admission. I think a lot of people are selling him short. He might have only averaged 5 yards a carry, but he kept them going the entire game. He consistently gets those 5 yards when other backs would get 1 or 2. He is to them what Shady was to the Wanny teams.

Yeah barkleys 4.0 yards per carry really killed us

5 TD's and we spy'd him with two LB some plays. He's precense was greatly felt on the field. If you want to give credit for the 2.4 yards per carry give it to the team effort on defense. But say what you want it was 11 on 1 and he kept them in it. Kid is tough.

One semi pick let SB score a TD. Still wonder how Caprara is left to cover him. But Pitt has a great class as freshman that will make a big impact. The "athleticism" of Camp, Watts, Jones, Weaver, and Wheeler will be evident later this year or next year. Same for Pine, Pugh, Coleman, Garner, Hamlin, Miller, Campbell. Add in Ford and some really good recruits this year and Narduzzi has the kind of players who can elevate things on the defensive side of the ball. Hopefully Gilbert can come back. On a side note, Blair, Price,JW and Jarrett are just killing it

They do in fact get blown out yesterday if not for him.
