A coach at The U mocks recruiting process...

I agree it’s silly but why openly mock it if you are in the profession? is it a silly process if they pick your school at the end or only when you lose out?

How silly is the process of offering a kid, telling them they have a scholarship offer but not really but kind of? How silly is non committable offers? IM assuming a coach will say that's part of the process..

There should be no signing period. That is stupid. If a kid is sure where he wants to go, he should be able to sign an LOI at any time.

Agree. Why do you have to wait for some arbitrary date to agree to something you feel you are ready to commit to. Oh, I get it, it’s turned into a money event for espn and other companies.

you need a date, or two. gives the kids a tiny bit of leverage, protects them. coaches could bully kids into signing before they are ready if there was no LOI day. I really think you need a specific date to protect from that.

Frankly, he is right but as a college coach I am sure he is recruiting kids committed to other schools and I am sure Miami or wherever he currently coaches has flipped a recruit so he is being really hypocritical.

Honestly, anything to put a boot to some of these primma donnas is okay by me. Some of them really need some grip. It is okay to have fun, but you are not that self important to have a top 14 list, then announce you will have a top 10, then announce another date where you will have a top 5, etc.....
