- Watching that game last was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had watching a Pitt sports event. The happiness that we all felt had to be even more enjoyable for Pat Narduzzi and those on his staff who have been under constant criticism during his time here at Pitt. What an incredible year for everyone associated with the Pitt football program. Enjoy it guys, you deserve it!!
-The latest news about ben roethlisberger playing his last year with the Steelers is hilarious. Look, I will admit to not being a fan of roethlisberger. I lost what little respect (which wasn't much to begin with) I had for him after he was accused of sexual assault by two different women. This latest "news release" is just typical for ben roethlisberger. He is and always will be an "attention whore". I mean, the story is he told a couple of people "privately" and somehow it founds its way to ESPN and local media. Naturally, the story goes with ben hasn't announced it publicly because he doesn't want to be a distraction to this years team and its attempt to make the playoffs. PLEASE stop ben!!! You had a solid NFL career and will probably end up in the Canton, BUT make no mistake, you are a shell of the QB that you once were and by you returning to play this year, have placed the Steelers into a very unfavorable position as they now search for their new starting QB. Time for "this old cowboy" to rid off into the sunset.
-The Pitt Men's Soccer Team had another good season. I have heard little publicly about this, but is there a problem with come of the players and the current head coach? Not trying to stir things up, but I have a friend who's son is on scholarship with the Pitt Soccer Team and she has told me that her son, along with 3-4 others.are considering leaving the program because of conflicts with the coaching staff. I don't really follow the soccer program that closely at all, has any one else heard of anything about this situation?
-Nice to see Sidney Crosby starting to get his name on the score sheet for the Penguins. He's not an "old man" yet, but he is getting into that area (34 year old) where a lot of athletes start to lose their "skills" and watch their career go downhill. The same thing can be said about Evgeni Malkin and his current medical issues. These two men where literally considered two of the top hockey players in the world during their careers and it is my hope for them, as well as the Penguins organization, that they are able to return to their top form and give the fans one more glimpse of how lucky we all were to have these two superstars playing here in the City of Pittsburgh.
-What does Heather Lyke do with Jeff Capel? When she hired him as the Head Coach of the Pitt Men's Basketball Team, I was happy. He always seemed to be a strong competitor and coming from the Duke basketball program, he seemed to be the perfect fit to help lead the Pitt program to the top of the ACC. Sadly, it hasn't worked out that way quite yet. I'm willing to give the man, the benefit of the doubt, but I must admit losing Au'Diese Toney, Xavier Johnson and Trey McGowens have given me concern if he is the right man for the job. I would love to see the Pitt football and basketball programs be successful at the same time.
-With the Pitt football team winning the ACC Championship this year and shining quite nicely last night on a national stage, does any of the areas top recruits who have given verbal commitments elsewhere, reconsider and decide to play for their hometown team? I would love to see a couple of them stay in the area and play at Pitt and join the recruits from down south that Pat Narduzzi and his staff have been able to bring in to the program.
-In regards to the Pirates...awe, never mind.
-Lastly, the next month or so, should be quite an exciting time for fans of the Pitt football program. A lot of attention is being drawn to the program and its star players like Kenny Pickett and Jordan Addison being nominated for top individual awards like the Heisman Trophy and Biletnikoff Award. An upcoming New Year's Day bowl game against a Top 10 opponent...what an awesome time to be a Pitt sports fan. H2P!!!!
