A proper send-off for Ben

I imagine you read a lot of San Francisco publications....

I wish we lived in a society that truly wanted to help, understand, and improve people instead of shit on and punish them. The latter kind of just perpetuates the hate/anxiety and makes us all live on edge.

The irony with these pseudo moralists who spend their lives pointing fingers at people is that the only time they can get their fix is when bad things happen to the ones they're pointing fingers at. So they're not really good people themselves. They wish harm upon others and rationalize it within themselves by saying they deserved it.

Kind of like something that would appear in the Sports Pickle.

I'm with you, if you are taking about his victims sure but
you lost me at understanding a rapist. The dude is more suited for a jumpsuit than a jacket. Good riddance, finally.

i can get behind the first part but aren’t you just doing the same thing in the 2nd part?

Just because some random woman says something, doesn't make it true, could of been some gold digger out for a payday.

Good thing you aren't 1-man jury in court cases because the Duke LaCrosse team would be in prison and jussie smolette would probably be the mayor of NY by now.

Some people lie.

Maybe Ben did what you accuse. maybe a couple people knew he was a celebrity and thought they could get some cash.

That's a weird and incoherent rant you typed there. 🙄

Ben was pretty much a jerk to everyone , fans and media alike , for most of his career .
He did some token things .
Once he got married he mellowed a bit .

he always deflected criticism or accountability about leading his team- including this season when he said it wasn’t his job to talk to Claypool, it’s Tomlin’s.

I didn’t read this piece because it doesn’t really matter .
Ben has been at best a thin skinned jerk most of his career .

call me crazy but i prioritized his on field success over what i read about in the gossip magazines. he was by far the franchise's best QB ever and it's not even close. won a ton of games, put up HOF numbers and played for 18 years..

but obviously most of you dont care about that and our grown adults looking for someone to idolize who's half your age. nothing weird at all about that. hopefully our next qb will be that guy and you can hang up his poster on your wall and even ask for and get his autograph.

time to grow up folks, you arent 9 years old anymore. time to quit looking at 22 year old Professional athletes as your heroes, it's creepy when you are a grown ass man doing this.

He’s second to Bradshaw .
Nobody doubts he’s going to the Hall of Fame .
Your hero straw man is not surprising -
Judging a man on basic human decency isn’t about hero worship-
It’s about having a society . Of course the rush to the bottom group like you complains about holding as two things can be true .
Because the truth is - it’s your worship of athletes

It wasn't one woman. There's a reason a scrub like Baker Mayfield is all over commercials and Ben isn't.
Here's the thing, the #metoo "believe all women" stuff is total BS, as far as I'm concerned, in he said/she said situations, I refuse to pick a side, and never will. And you can say, "but there are multiple accusers" I would say, especially celebrities, there could be a lot of reasons for that, money, being rejected after consensual sex, lots of things.

second to bradshaw lol. you are out of your mind. Ben was going to the afc championship game as a rookie, bradshaw was backing up a crack head because he was awful for the first 4 years of his career.

I judge athletes on what they do on the field, i could care less about off field rumors and allegations. grown adults following the personal lives of people they'll never meet is weird, looking for someone to adore because they are a steeler. it's fine when you are 10, as an adult, it's flat out weird.

To follow up as an analogy -
Jaromir Jagr is an all time nhl and penguins great .
He’s also a notorious creep who was caught with under age girls on several occasions.

Mario lemieux and Quinn were caught with a teenage girl in a hotel who screamed rape. No one cares. Larry fitz beat up his girlfriend, no one cares.

We pick and choose what allegations to make a big deal of and what ones don’t matter. It’s laughable.

Yeah my dislike for him is mainly centered around what I've heard him say in interviews and whatnot. Hasn't come off as a great teammate throughout his career. The off field stuff has tarnished his reputation but I'm not willing to go as far as calling him a rapist given he was never convicted of anything. Definitely was lacking character though, at least early on.

Dude who wrote that is a bigger piece of trash than Ben, and I'm serious when I say that.
Why? For what he wrote back on Kissing Suzy Kolber? At least Drew has the self-awareness to own up to his shitty writing in the past and try to be a better person.

Because only a piece of trash would write a hit piece like that. He even took a shot at his dead mother.

I'd suggest he look in the mirror, but he's apparently too busy trying to generate clicks.

Eh. His schtick towards Ben has been consistent for years and I don’t think anyone would honestly read that piece and take it for serious journalism nor was it intended to be.

I can't say I even know who the writer is or if I've ever read anything he's written before. It's in poor taste, and I don't even care much for Ben outside of him winning football games. But I guess his schtick is to be an ass... just like Ben.

I don't care about any athlete outside of winning games for my team, they're just characters on a TV show to me, not even real people, they're not my friend and not my brother, and I don't even want to have a beer with them, just do good on my TV Show, and that's all I care about.

You can probably count on one hand the times Ben threw his teammates under the bus as he always took blame for playing bad and losses. It just so happened one of the significant times he did was towards AB and of course the national media gobbled that up and and it sound like he did it all the time. Btw, it is absolutely Tomlin's job to talk to Claypool. Up until this year, he got basically zero criticism from the media.

This clown writer would also be disappointed to know Franco was in the box with some of Ben's former teammates on Monday night.
