It's tough, because what else are you supposed to say when you get your ass handed to you? You sort of need to play up those other teams. But then, Pitt did kind of hand their ass to them and they had some decent publicity, so is that a Pitt thing or something related to the other team?

I tend to think Duquesne is legit. EWU was certainly good previously, but with Tyler Harvey gone, I don't know. if they still are.

Davidson beat these guys by 10 points in a game that was close until the very end.

We beat them by 33 in a game that wasn't close from early in the first half.

Does this mean we are 23 points better than Davidson?

We will have to see how competitive that game is come next Sunday.

I tend to think quotes like this are more than a little self-serving. I HOPE we are that good, but I'm not ready to drink the kool-aid yet

Not self serving IMO. Sometimes you can be completely pissed and think your team didn't compete or play well and other times you take your hat off to the other team. I think both of these guys are genuine in their praise.

Duquesne just beat SFU by 2 with a Mason 2 pointer with 2 seconds left to win. Even though they barely won, still think they'll be better than last year (for sure), but not great...

While such quotes can be self serving in a way it's also nice to see because those were the kind of things we used to hear from opposing coaches back when Pitt was good. I guess we'll find out soon enough if Pitt is good or not.

I despise Jim Boeheim but the '04 and I think '09 team also he said was the best team in the country or at least a Final Four team. Pitt just came up short and weren't "the best" team.

We'll see what happens this season, but this team IMO has the most overall skills of any recent Pitt team other than '09. Same as that season though we do have 3 legit really talented players starting for us.
