Long story short, I ended up in a PSU bar in New Orleans to watch the game. It took a long time to find a bar that wasn't wall to wall LSU.
Inside, I was talking to two Nits who were actively rooting for Pitt because it helped their chances at making the playoff, which I at least respected even if I was ecstatic later when they lost to Sparty.
Both of them were saying how good Pitt looked in those colors and were very happy when I told them they are all but officially coming back next year. Obviously, PSU fans are more familiar with Pitt, but it never fails when I'm traveling and wearing an old school Pitt hat that I get a comment that Pitt needs to wear those colors again.
