Any road conference win is a good win. Pitt won despite a QB who is struggling and receivers who still can't hold onto the ball.

We will win games with defense, and we won't blow anyone out. Get used to it and quit bitching because they are going to win more games than 90% of the people on this board thought they would.

When the defense gives you good field position over and over, and the Offense does less than nothing with it, its kinda discouraging.
What is the prognosis with Ffrench ?

{QUOTE="maxxwell, post: 2859926, member: 1934"]Ya, and they covered the spread. It’s not like they were 3 TD favorites, but it sure didn’t “feel” good.[/QUOTE]

Apparently Pitt was supposed to win by 30.

I'm happy that they won, but let's face it, Georgia Tech is terrible. They don't do anything well. With our defense, there was no reason that game should have been close.

It's completely acceptable to be glad we won and still furious with the gameplan and offensive execution. We were an 80 yard scoop play from being tied with Georgia Tech going into the 4th quarter. We play like we did on Saturday in our remaining games and we'll go 0-3.

my new line with regards to college football and specifically acc/coastal football is, you don't have to be good to be good..

if you continually beat bad teams, you will be ranked. Miami is a bad team, if we won that, we'd be ranked in high teens now and perceived as good, despite any real impressive wins (outside of UCF). IF you can beat bad teams in college football, that gets you pretty high up there.

True, but I don't think there are that many truly "bad" teams. Rutgers, Arkansas, Syracuse, & Northwestern are four that are pretty bad and I would say guaranteed wins. The rest there isn't that much separation and not a guarantee (excluding of course for the top 7 or 8 which has a big degree of separation from all the rest).

Georgia tech is a bad team. if you ranked every D1-A team, they aren't in top 70. Duke is bad too, probably on the wrong side of 60..

We won.....Next!!!!!!!
kind of getting with this mindset. this whole "we gotta play better or we'll lose" thing is getting irrelevant since we are 75% thru the season. right now, we are who we are, this is what we do. we are too inconsistent to expect anything to carry over or effect next week. take it week by week, get a win and start over.

the time to re-build is past, get the win and get out.. you don't suddenly discover new aspects of your offense in week 10... what we see is who we are.. if we havent seen it by now, we arent going to see it this year.. we are a little bit better than most of our competition, that's not bad..

I honestly think there’s a portion of the fan base more concerned with bragging rights or some other weirdness....otherwise seriously who cares?

People who watched on tv are acting like “oh it felt like a loss”.... no ... no it didn’t I was there and honestly outside of the GT possession where they had the goaline fumble it never felt all day GT was going to move the ball let alone win.

Again I would have liked a 23-10 or 27-10 win with a more aggressive offense but Pitt was basically in a position of running clock for the entire 4th qtr with no threat of GT scoring for most of the quarter. It was a boring qtr but I wasn’t sweating it.

I agree Pitt is too inconsistent to say with any clarity this means they’ll lose to UNC or VT or BC... we can’t tell anything at this point. But Pitt needs to NOT turn it over regardless

Yeah, pretty much. This shouldn't be surprising to anyone, and based on the low expectations coming into the season, it's better than most expected.

Every facet of the offense is inconsistent. QB, OL, WR, TE, and RB. The offense has been turning the ball over way too much. Pitt will win games with defense. Expect more conservative approaches with a lead.

Those who ignore how a team plays, as long as they win, are the ones who get angry and surprised the most when losses like the one to Miami occur

I was neither angry nor surprised when Pitt lost to Miami. That is why I'm satisfied that they beat Georgia Tech.

this board was full of anger after the Miami game.

Pitt’s offense/coaching staff has shown everyone who they are, repeatedly. To expect anything different at this point in the season doesn’t make sense

I agree.

It’s relevant in the off-season and projecting forward.

There’s a legit discussion to be had about whether Pitt staying at about 50ish or worse every year under Narduzzi is going to result in many, “a win, is a win, is a win” type seasons. But that’s talk better reserved for January through August.

But right now just enjoy the W.

But were they the same people who didn't care how well they played against GT? I doubt it. Angry people are angry people, they are generally not going to be satisfied with an ugly win over a weak opponent.

I screwed that up somehow, my response is inside your quote.

I'm angry that I did that.
