I was looking on the web (see link below) and noticed Syracuse does not field a baseball team in the ACC. Is that really true? If so does anyone know why?

ACC

Syracuse dropped baseball in 1972. They not going to soon add it because of Title IX, facilities, cold weather. Maybe down the road. It's fine because Notre Dame neatly fills their spot in the Atlantic Division.

They could always play in that minor league park they have up there but the weather just wouldnt be what you need to field a competitive team in the ACC. I would believe if Syracuse really wanted to add another sport, it would be hockey. I think with their alumni base and fanbase in Central New York, a hockey team would do really well.

I think they'd be more likely to play in the Carrier Dome, especially if they're building a new Dome facility.

The problem with hockey is 1) it is terribly expensive 2) they don't have a guarantee into Hockey East.

Interestingly, Syracuse does have a College World Series appearance in 1961.
