ACC broadcast using old stock images of Pittsburgh

Some clips of Barry Bonds (the thin Barry, pre-C&C) at 3 Rivers would be a nice touch. Or some Spirit footage (footage... see what I did there...)

A StanTerlicki bicycle kick hitting the back of the net would be awesome

They constantly show pouring hot steel at least for the last 20 years also...

The mills closed in the 80s when I was in high school
They still melt and pour steel at ATI in Brackenridge, lots of it! They recently put in a huge rolling facility there as well. I think they can roll up to like 102 inches wide. Including aluminum as well as all the specialty steels etc. So Steel is still relevant in the area. However the number of mills making carbon steel like the haydays of the Mon Valley are no longer.

The Edgar Thompson works in Braddock still produce about 20 pct. of our national steel product plus there are still integrated mills in Butler, Midland and Monessen as well. There are also a dozen or more major processing plants in the region, the nation's largest producer is located downtown as is the steelworkers union. The region also produces almost all of the coke used in steel making. The name of the team is the "Steelers" and this region is still a large worldwide producer. Its also a very visually compelling industry for such art shots.

OT: I was of the impression Edgar Thompson was the only mill in PA that produces steel from raw materials. Which plants in Butler, Midland and Monessen are still producing? Just curious. I haven't been in any of the named towns within the recent past. Thanks.

The ARMCO Lyndora Works (Butler) has a continuous caster for carbon steel. I just found out the Monessen plant is now just coking and cold finishing. I can't remember who owns the Midland works.

I once was asked to get pictures of all the local mill sites for a trade publication. It was tough to get a good pic of the Armco works so I just parked in the company lot, strolled in the gate, casually climbed up the hill and started snapping pictures. This was less than a year after 911. Within 5 minutes I had plant security, Butler and State Police all interogating me in the guard house threatening to throw me in Federal Pound Me In The Ass Prison for 5 years. They were all laughing when they found out I was just some stupid kid making $7 an hour to snap pics for a rag. Thankfully, the man with the rubber glove was very gentle.
