ACC coaching rhmor

Im hearing Mike Brey is out, John Beilein in.

Certainly interesting. Might be a slight upgrade but I think Brey is pretty good too.

Beilein at Mich: 278-150 (.650), 9 NCAAT in 12 years, 2 S16, 1 E8, 2 National Semifinals

Brey at ND: 446-247 (.644), 13 NCAAT in 21 years, 1 S16 and 2 E8.

Beilein has the better resume but Michigan is also a better job than ND imo.

Retiring, but it may be forced. Had a fight with AD in December and they haven’t talked since.
Insider, I want to ask you something. Do you think there is a chance that if Champagnie comes back, there might be a chance his brother transfers in? I was thinking that with Toney and X gone this might be a thought.

I am not hearing him involved with either. I expect BC to be Mark Schmidt or Dennis Gates and PSU is Probably waiting for Gates as well.
The names I’m hearing @PSU are Shrewsberry as #1, and if he turns them down, they’ll push hard for Gates. Gates was an assistant at Cal when PSU’s AD was there, but he has huge connections at BC obviously.

I’m not gonna try to act like a big shot here. I have absolutely NO idea on that situation at all. I’d think it’s more likely both to pro than play at same school next year.

James Jones - Yale
Potential candidate as well.

I’ve heard that as well, I just have a hard time believing they pull the trigger on Shrew.

I would say banging the Associate AD at BC is a pretty large connection for Gates there, yeah.

No inside info from me either but I think they are both happy (and thriving) where they are at. Either pro or come back to where they are for one more year and then go pro are their options IMO.

I did not intend it in any bad way. I just know that some on this board are a little bit more clued into things. This was something I was thinking about when those 2 left and it has been in the back of my mind.

Thanks for the response

Brey has kind of leveled off. Probably need new blood there. Beilein would be a coup. BC should then scoop up Brey in a heartbeat.

You heard anything about Moser to BC? It came up to me recently and I was perplexed. The only connection is the fact they're both Jesuit schools.

Loyola AD moved to BC, I believe. That’s the other connection. He removed himself from BC. I think his payday is waiting out Depaul

A couple of things related to PsU...

Sandy Barbour also has a past relationship with Brey when they were together at ND so if your info is true and he still wants to coach it’s not unfathomable that he might be willing to listen.

Also, the connection with her and Gates from Cal has been mentioned, but PSU’s Senior Women’s Administrator just left and that is what Gates’ wife’s role at BC is so maybe they come as a package deal.

Brey is good, Beilein better.

We'll have to wait to find out what the highly valued "Search Firms" come up with.

The BC AD hired Moser at Loyola. And don't overlook Michigan assistant and BC alum Howard Eisley for that job.

.seeing the empty seats behind them should have been the forshadowing that tipped us off on how this was going to to go.

i stilll cant belive we went through that grift

Wow.....actually would be a perfect hire. Beilein is a pretty strong Catholic and started his career at Lemoyne College which is a Catholic school. He's a helluva coach. And his style would be perfect for the type of kids who usually gravitate towards Notre Dame.

Yep. Fun fact. Johnny B has never been an assistant coach.
