Pitt currently sits at 9-3 (0-1) headed into ACC Play this Saturday @ Cuse.
Here is what I believe they need and who they need to beat to get in come selection sunday....
Pitt needs to finish 21-10 (12-8) in the regular season + win at least 1 game in the ACC tournament to get in IMO. Finishing @ 22-11 should get them in - this would require going 12-7 in the remaining 19 ACC games
It's going to be a critical start for Pitt as they get Duke twice, UNC once, Syracuse twice, and @ Miami in the first 8 games: They desperately need to find a way to split the Duke games and win @ home against UNC. This would be a critical start for a team to add a big win to the resume early on in the year to carry some weight at the back end.
My Predicted wins to get to 12 ACC wins: UNC, Duke (x1), Louisville (x2), Syracuse (x1), Wake Forest (x1), Notre Dame, FSU, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, NC. State (x1), Boston College
My Predicted L's to get to 8 ACC Losses: Syracuse (x1), Duke (x1), Miami (x1), NC State (x1), Wake Forest (x1) , Clemson (x2), Virginia (x1)
I'm looking forward to seeing how this team truly goes through league play... they have their faults and certainly have had me questioning just how high their ceiling is, but the top 3 of Hinson, Leggett, Carrington can compete with anyone in the league. We will see just how exposed Pitt is underneath against bigs like Filopowski, Bacot, Omier, etc.
