I thought the replay officials had a terrible day today.
Araujo-Lopes non-catch and the safety both looked really close without any clear angle to overturn the call. Personally, I'm fine with overturning those, but that's not how the ACC has worked typically. For those that watched at home, am I missing something? I don't have the best angles in the stadium to the scoreboards.
This isn't on the replay officials, but I seriously question the review on Arajuo-Lopes catch. The refs said there was a review initiated, but I watched Babers run up the sideline to the refereee, call a timeout, be awarded the timeout, and then the referee said it was being reviewed by the booth. Sure looked like a challenge to me.
If Narduzzi did try to call a timeout on that sideline catch, how are the refs not looking at him to see if he's motioning for something? You know it's a critical play. The whole crowd is booing. You have to have your eyes on the coach to see what he wants to do. Also, why are the refs allowed to stand over the ball after a TD to stop a snap but can't do it on a play in the field? Good for Syracuse for doing what you should do in that situation, but the officiating was terrible there.
