Well, anybody thinking it is will get easier for the Pitt Panthers will have to wait for another year.
YSU-Did not look that great against Robert Morris and must have used all their preparation for Pitt, but they still won after costing Pitt Connor!
Akron-Pitt Players and Coaches did what they were suppose to do, payback the lost from last year. Playing Peterman was a good move and shows good coaching so he could be ready with Voytik. Now Pitt has 2 QBs and any injury provides Pitt with some options just like other Running Backs stepped up after losing Connor. The Coaching Staff has to be at its best to beat Iowa and then have the the players ready to execute a good Game Plan. I would love to see a combination of Voytik designed running offense along with Peterman Pocket Passing attack! A great way to keep some Defenses off balance. The Pitt Defense stopped the run and followed what coaches taught a positive sign that needs to proven against Iowa? Boyd is the one player now that Pitt cannot afford to lose to an injury?
@Iowa-This is the game for the Pitt Players to remember from last year, they lost this game they could have won. Overcoming Iowa's Defense should be a given if Pitt players remember that lost just like they did against Akron. This is more a Testing Issue for Coach Pat & Coaching Staff to take on its first FBS D-1 Opponent from the Big Ten and it being an Away game?
@Virginia Tech-Even though the Hokies lost their QB in the OSU Game. The QB played just fine but it is the Defense that will be hard to beat. Yet, the Pitt offense can be just as formidable and especially if the Defense continues to improve. This is the opposite of the YSU, Akron and Iowa Games, the Hokies owe Pitt a Payback beating from last year bushwhacking when Chryst & Coaches designed Voytik Running plays and the game is at VT, not an easy assignment? One good point, Pitt will have 2 weeks to prepare for this game!
Virginia- Gave Notre Dame every it had and will be hard for Pitt to beat at Pitt with there Defense and Offense coming into maturity. London has a QB and Defense that makes this a very Tough Game as predicted and and as played the last two years? Despite of what many think Mike London is a good coach. Being a Home Game helps but not a win unless the Players & Coaches make it happen?
@Georgia Tech-Just a highly formidable task against Superb Dave Johnson Coaching that will have already play At Notre Dame, Duke and Clemson and UNC at Home to prepare for Pitt? They are playing great putting up 60+ Points against Alcorn and Tulane just like they are suppose to be doing while keeping them under 10 points? If Coach Pat & Staff can beat Georgia tech, Pitt has found a great coach!
@Syracuse-Again, said it before and will say it again. Cuse is never an easy win for Pitt at Cuse and especially this year. They are finally putting it all together again at Cuse winning their first 2 games against Rhode Island and Wake Forest. Pitt should win but they have make it happen! This will be after 4 difficult games too?
North Carolina-They look to be on shaky ground and UNC is about to be hit with NCAA Sanctions. They barely lost to South Carolina and beat NCA&T with 50 points scored! If Pitt has their Special Teams coverage ready and their own Special Teams scores, Pitt should win by now against the Tar Heels, not a gimme, but at Home and should be ready to play this Team it should have beaten the last 2 years? A double Payback is owed and will be a close game!
Notre Dame-Pitt will have the Irish at home and the Pitt-Virginia Game will be a good test how Pitt may do against the Irish that were lucky to beat them. ND will have played GT, Clemson, Navy, USC, and Temple just before playing Pitt so the timing is not that bad? Notre Dame has the Coaching, Talent, and Tradition to beat Pitt badly, but they thought that last year too? They pounded Texas and them laid an egg by nor being prepared for against Virginia. Still a very tough win for Pitt to pull off!
@Duke-They are ready again beating Tulane by 30 and NC central 55-0. Duke & Pitt mirror each other and Pitt hung on to win by 3 two years ago and Duke took advantage of Chryst's Poor coaching on Special Teams and Play Calling last year! This is another Toss-Up Game, flip a coin, depends on the Coaching & game Plans. Pitt should be better on Defense and Special Teams by this time if no major injuries happen? Playing at Duke should not be a disadvantage to Pitt unless the ACC Refs make it so?
ULou-This is a rebuilding year for Petrino at ULou and one of the Best Coaches in CFB barely lost to Auburn and Houston just by 3 points, but by the 11th Game he will have his Team and Players ready to play and beat Pitt. Now if Pitt has won 8 games by now, Coach Pat & Staff may show they are just formidable, but we have to wait and see to show all us?
Miami-Golden has them scoring 40+ points again in their first two games against Bethune-Cookman an Florida Atlantic, but they still look inconsistent and have to prove they win 10+ games with Golden? They have way more talent than Pitt but Pitt usually plays them tough! Too early to call and we will have 11 games by this game to evaluate coach Pat & Staff for Pitt Future?
Overview To Date Of Coach Pat & Staff & Players:
Pitt did what it was suppose to do, they beat Non-Power Teams, improved from the 1st to 2nd games, and now will be tested with Power Conferences Teams? After watching MSU play a very tough Oregon Team an winning a close game, it gives me hope one day we shall see the same at Pitt.
PITT OFFENSE:
I like Coach Pat & Staff has taken his own judgment and played Peterman and explain why he did it. I like Voytik and Peterman both playing and if one falters the other can come in and turn it round since Voytik can scramble and run better, and Peterman is better at passing from the pocket. Pitt cannot afford to lose Boyd but Voytik is now replaceable and Pitt has the Running Backs to fill in for Connor that I predict will be back before the end of season?
PITT DEFENSE:
Still a work in progress and not tested as much as they will be in the next 10 games? Look like the Steelers on Defense still giving up the big play but not as much against Akron. Consequently, it takes time putting in a new Defense System with New Coaches & Players! Yet, they did not quit against YSU like we saw against Houston and they stopped the run, Chapman, and Passing of Akron. Is that a lot to brag about right now, not much, but they did what they were suppose to do! They should improve all season long but we shall have to wait and see?
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Still another work in progress on coverage and running Kickoffs and Punts? Field Goal kicking looks spot on by Blewitt and Punting not bad either! We shall see if the Special Team Coach is needed and worth his value that Chryst did not feel was that important? I want to see some Run Backs and better field positions coverage.
Overall, Pitt is improved with a new attitude and commitment to the Team and Players and Coach Pat Narduzzi is putting forth his own mark on coaching and it will be interesting to see his own recruits and players in the future versus the Chryst's Recruits and Players he inherited! So far so good, but bigger tests to come!
