ACCN: 9 conf games? Would Pitt vote for it?

id be curious to see how much money pitt is making on these fcs scrimmages compared to playing a competitive P5 home and home.. Does that 7th game, playing new Hampshire, really bring in that much money?? $5 dollar tickets is what we are charging for this year's fcs scrimmage.. after we pay the team to come here, are we really making out? As a fan, give me a good game, against a team that plays D1, that I wont have to watch on my laptop, over this garbage any day..
Pitt can win the game. That is why programs like ours have to play those games.

Good thing no one ever said that in here.
Hmmmm....."0 legitimate programs play less than 7 home/payday neutral site games."

I guess UMD, Louisville, Miami, Pitt are not legitimate (along with others).

Illinois is not moving the game to lose money. The school is only worried about their take.
Alright - since I don't have actual receipts to back up my argument, I'll concede this argument. But the statement that "no legitimate programs play less that 7 home or neutral site games" is inaccurate.

Just examples, there's more.

Oklahoma and Texas play their neutral site rivalry game for an enormous payout.

Us playing at Akron tells the story. Absolutely idiotic. Unfortunately we are not (hopefully that is a "yet") a big time program.

NC State playing at Old Dominion AND South Alabama (ever, but certainly in the same year) tells the story. Their AD should be fired.

TCU played at Minnesota in an unbalanced Big 12 year. Not smart, but a product of maintaining a rivalry from their G5 days with SMU that does not help TCU at all. Very dumb by their AD to continue that under a home and home environment.

i agree with you guys on this "mandatory 7th game" being silly.. I get it for programs in middle of nowhere, with a blind following. the Tennessee's, psu's of the world, who will sell 90k tickets to their school playing an fcs school, it makes sense.. For us, not so much..

What is the other option? We can't get big pay neutral site games and we need to build our program with wins.

Jrip, beating new Hampshire and old dominion does nothing for anybody and I even question these scrimmages being profitable for us.. Pitt football needs a lot of things, a win against an fcs school isn't one of them..

I would be in favor of 9 ACC games. This will help in developing rivalries as we will obviously see teams more often and help build the ACC brand.

Agree. You are in a conference, you play conference games. It is the fastest way to build familiarity and rivalries. Especially in a large conference, it makes it easier to see every team on occasion.

Not to mention gives your schedule a certainty, and aids in arranging an OOC schedule. Plus, it cuts down on cupcakes. Better games, better fun.

We absolutely need an extra win instead of an extra loss against a mid level power 5 program.
