Will the new ACCN replace regional broadcast ACC games?

In other words - will ATT Root Sports still broadcast regional ACC coverage- or will the ACCN have all non ESPN / national games?

I’m trying to decide if I will need Root sports to see Regional broadcast Pitt games or will the ACCN replace regional broadcasts.

There will be no more ACC games on AT&T Sports or any of those other RSN’s. That content will all move to ESPN+ or ACCN. However, there probably will still be in some Pitt-related programming on AT&T sports – if that interests you.

Also, I’m pretty sure that I just read that the Big 12 will also move all of its content to ESPN+, so that will impact WVU fans living in this DMA as well.

The regional sports network will no longer show acc games per my understanding
Thank you. So, one could dump cable and go to a streaming service that carries ESPN networks\ACCN without losing access to Pitt games ; without being blacked out in Pittsburgh.

You don't even need a streaming provider for ESPN. You can pay $6 a month to get ESPN Plus

For sure, there will be no more Raycom games shown on over the air stations like WTAE or Cozi. Wes Durham said Raycom will retain its regional sports network package which it syndicates to RSNs like ATTSN and that was a shock to pretty much everyone because you figured ESPN got all that content back. However, it's my belief he meant that Raycom will provide the announcers, cameramen, and trucks (which may say Raycom if you see them outside the arena) but the game will have ACCN graphics and be on ACCN and not ATTSN

It's their billion dollar "Tier 3 package" that will be moved to ESPN+. So instead of WVU's early season game vs an FCS school and cupcake basketball games being on ATTSN, they will be on ESPN+.

Between losing Big 12 and ACC events, ATTSN lost a lot. Really just exclusively Pirates and Penguins + Big East basketball

I think they (ESPN) are missing an opportunity here but they may be holding out until Disney launches their streaming service.

I would imagine within 3 years ACCN and SECN will be offered as stream-only without cable for $5/month or so

They are going to milk the cable train till its dry but I would guess that about 3 years from now:

- watchESPN will be offered as stream-only and will just offer events on the traditional ESPN channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU) for $20/month

- ACCNE and SECN+ will be offered as stream-only and include ALL ACCN and SECN programming for $5/month each

- ESPN+ will probably be up to $10/month then. It slowly has added a ton of content.

Maybe you can get all the ESPN apps for $25-$28 as a quantity discount.

I'm guessing eventually they will just bundle them all and make you pay like $30 a month or so in the end when/if cable dies.

WVU and a handful of other Big XII schools contracts for their tier 3 gazillion games ends next year. Half of the Big XII will start this year, WVU and the other half will in 2020.

Yea. ESPN gave the ACC it's own network. They gave the Big 12 a branded "link" on a stream-only subscription "network."

Time will tell. Like I said, I think it will eventually be all or nothing. If you want to watch ESPN, you need to buy the entire package.
