According to Vuk we lost Winfree

We don't know how good our true freshman WR's will be. Plus Lopes, the juco WR from last year. I'm still not sold this is a huge loss. I know everyone looks at the 4 star rating, but I look at his numbers. Nothing major his freshman year at Maryland. Juco numbers no better than Lopes. He may be a 4 star that just never pans out. It happens all the time.
1. If Lopes was any good he would've played last year when we were starving for a #2 WR;
2. Winfree was a productive receiver for a power 5 program as a true freshman. He also played at one of the top JUCO football factories in the country, with and against a bunch of other future P5 players. Comparing their JUCO numbers is probably the least accurate way to compare their respective abilities.
3. This is a big loss, unless the kid waffles again and comes back before LOI day.

This is the problem with all of these kinds of players, we see it every year. When you're taking someone else's problem child you ha e to expectt this kind of thing. This Clark kid is another one. I understand he's enrolled right now but that doesn't mean he'll ever step foot on the field for Pitt. He is just as likely to end up out of football and going to community college innNew Hampshire by the time the 2017 season starts. Same with Cole, the Michigan kid who's trying to figure out his next move. These guys are worth going after, but you can't count on them to live up to their end of the bargain.

Not good to lose a starting WR this late in the game. This is a huge, huge loss. Our WR core is pretty bad. I want to beat Penn State and I am less confident that the Peterman/Ford/Challingsworth combo will be able to stretch the field enough to score enough points. This is a big deal.
Some of you are such drama queens.

And if it hasn't happened?? Will Winfree be a superstar?? He's not our only WR recruit.

Haven't we already been through this?

It's a loss, but far from the end of the world... How do you know Winfree will be the starter??? Maybe Flowers beats him out? How do you know that Dane Jackson and Tre Tipton aren't better???

What if I told you that Hill will be moved to WR and become a superstar??? Just like when Shell left and Conner was moved to RB????

It would seem very likely that he'll start, given that was able to produce as a true freshman at Maryland.
That's a lot more than we can say about most of our other wrs, who have certainly been given the chance to.

As it is, Pitts page still has him listed as a commit.
Colorado's does not.

Some of you just need to relax and wait till Wednesday.

Not sore but same point. We won't know who we have and don't have until LOI day is over.
I think it is a sign of Coach Pat & Staff showing they really know how to find Recruits & Players Gems. One forgets when a Diamond comes out of the ground it requires much hard work to to polish into a great looking sparkling Gem that catches the attention of everyone that ever see it!

Here Pitt's Coach Pat & Staff Recruits that many Coaches at Ohio State, Penn State and WVU Fans were laughing at earlier in the Season and now are trying to recruits away from Pitt?

I take it as a Compliment To Pitt Narduzzi & Staff findings Diamonds in the Rough very similar tow hat Jackie Sherrill would do in the 1970s-80s with Rickey Jackson!

Go ahead and laugh when some Recruit's DeCommit, that just means Coach Pat & Staff are on the right path of finding the Recruits and turn them into Players and Teams that will continue to make Pitt Is It!

It is a good sign to come not one to fear when other Programs go after Commits at Pitt!

Others can differ, but that is how I see it!

Kind of what I was thinking.

Look it's a loss. No doubt. Kid appears to have some physical talent but his track record also shows that he has issues between his ears.

I'd rather not see Pitt lose out on kids like this but it's also not the end of the world. Losing a kid like Mcvitte would be a far bigger loss to the program. Imo

I'd also point out that unlike guys like Mcvitte pine and a few others the staff hasn't made recruiting winfree a huge priority so they clearly don't think he's as important as some other recruits.

Yeah sucks losing a kid, but I'd much rather hang onto Flowers. Winfree seemed to have a lot of potential, but his track record shows he has a history of causing trouble. Would've been nice to have him, but I'd rather have the kid right out high school who's just as big of a recruit.

Theirs no gaurente that he would be any good,he could be a wash and a head scratcher,as for Lopez he didn't arrive to Pitt till really late so they red shirted him that's why he didn't play this year,he wasn't caught up

That;s simply not true. How/why would you make that assumption? Our staff was on this guy form the second he got the boot at Maryland. Some of you guys just don;t seem to get it--the staff wants Winfree badly because he can step right in and be our #1 WR opposite Dontez Ford. It is one of our two gaping holes on the existing roster. One of the true freshmen may surprise in camp but the coaches aren't stupid--they aren't counting on that and were never counting on one of them being able to start at WR right away-. Winfree is physically mature and has two years of college football under his belt, and he is talented--big, fast, strong, physical. if we actually lose him, it's gonna hurt, trust me. Hope for the best on Wednesday.

Some of you guys would make good Penn State fans. You sound just like him. Every time we lose a kid, he gets bashed here. His character, work ethic, everything.

Listen. Our WRs are mid-major. We dont know a lot about Winfree but he had a great game against Narduzzi's D as a frosh at Maryland and Narduzzi liked him enough to offer.

We better hope that a true frosh, either Flowers, French, or Hill are ACC level starters from Day 1 because.

People need to relax. THERE HAS BEEN ZERO PROOF THIS KID HAS CHANGED HIS MIND!

HE IS STILL COMMITTED TO PITT.

Pitt fans need to stop listening to a wanna be jock sniffer.

This guy makes things up so he can get you to his site.

Well, honestly a guy that tells people he isn't making a trip and that he is solid with one school then flips days before loi day does have something wrong with him. At least slightly... If you don't know don't verbal.

And Maryland fans seem to think there is something wrong with him, this isn't a clean track record kid.

And I likewise realize his info is coming from Twitter.

It's fine you want to pass out his business cards.
Doesn't change the source of information is social media.
False. I know him personally. If by Twitter you mean he gets a dm from a kid, I suppose you're right, but it's no different than calling the kid. He also gets information from several other sources. Social media is the smallest part. Not sure what your agenda is by trying to knock him and his sources and info down a peg, but you have no idea what you're talking about in this case. Move on

It's clear you're friendly with him.

Fanboys gotta fanboy

You're so delusional and stuck in your own trap it's sad. I'm the first one to tell him he's an ass for getting the cambell thing wrong. Nothing I've said here is an opinion...oh I think he's this or I think he's that. Everything I've replied has been factual and easily backed up. Next stupid remark pony
