Practically any fan of college hoops knew we were in trouble with this hire. Barnes was used by the search committee and knew he was in trouble during last basketball season and left town because he knew he wouldn't be able to stand the heat for this hire.
I've read on here he left b/c someone had an illness in his family and he wanted to move closer to family, and I'm not privy to know how that all ended. I hope if that was indeed the case, the family member recovered, but I believe that was an excuse. If it was an immediate family member, which again I don't know if it was, you don't leave Pittsburgh for Corvallis. You stay in Pgh for the better medical treatment versus being closer to family.
Oregon State will never be a player in football or men's hoops with Barnes as the AD.
