Enjoy it while it lasts guys. The ESPN announcers are already talking about how PSU should schedule easier games in the future OOC (I personally thought they had an easy enough schedule- they are 40th in SOS a reason).

That is not true. This is a ridiculous statement actually.

That discussion is more relevant for us than PSU since we played PSU and OK State. Our OOC is harder than Penn State's and I sure hope it stays that way.

Ohio St benefitted greatly from beating Oklahoma thoroughly on their home field. UGA plays GT, Clemson plays SC, etc.

Pitt - 42
PS - 39

I already feared a trip to State College next year. I'm definitely not going now. My god if any Pitt fan makes it home alive you are one tough s.o.b.

What are they gonna do? Beat you to death with their Metamucil bottle? You see the crowd last night? It was mostly old
Codgers.
Lol. If I can make it I probably will actually go. I really don't like it there to begin with though, not the kind of area I'd ever want to visit. It was a bit of sarcasm but my point is, that is a scary bunch of people up there... and they are gonna be super pissed off.

I went to school there, it's a safe fun place. You'll have a good time.

I've visited there once or twice. Tailgated at the blue-white game (no interest in going in though). Personally I'm just not that big of a fan of farm areas like what surrounds the stadium.

But yeah, any college town with bars I could have fun at lol.

The problem still exists for the nits. They simply don't play good teams and the couple they do are not big time programs like USC, Bama, Georgia FSU. They didn't pass the eyeball test and the committee did them a favor to not put them in a potential embarrassing match up with Bama. Nice game last year from the spartans. Only OSU has the athletes and cred to play the best teams.

Exactly. OSU had a big OOC win over Oklahoma. PSU lost to Pitt. It's not who you schedule, it is whether you win. If Oklahoma beat OSU (or Houston), they would be in.

Basically Franklin is saying he would be worried about losing to teams that are perceived as solid opponents, and would rather pay lesser teams to come in and take a beating. Sounds like a coach who is oozing confidence in not only his ability, but the ability of his players.

Was traveling back from Rochester NY the day the shit hit the fan and they took down the statue. Took a side trip past Beaver Stadium to check out the scene.

I must say the sight of grown men and women peeking thru holes in a blue tarp, trying to see the empty space where the statue had been was pretty disturbing.

Still doesn't get him into the playoff this year. OSU is there because they beat Oklahoma.

The first point the committee chair made regarding PSU not getting in was the Michigan game: PSU was not competitive in that game. Evidently that worked against them just as much as the loss to Pitt. And even with a W over Pitt, OSU has the win over OU to counter. So there's no clear endorsement of safe OOC scheduling by the committee with this outcome. Plus, overall sentiment in favor of rivalry scheduling is probably increasing, not decreasing.
