We can talk about the defense, rebounding and shot selection but the issue here is recruiting and that does not seem to be changing.

Last night, I would have asked Dixon why his team cannot contain players like Barber. We don't have the athletes.

Dixon continues to miss on the big recruits (Heron, Rowan and others) and is even struggling with the next tier.

Our guards are too slow and can't shoot. Answer - get quicker guards that can shoot. Dixon has had no success here. I like Robinson and it is great to have an amazing assist to turnover ratio but he cannot keep fast guards in front of him, cannot beat most off the dribble and has an OK shot. Sterling Smith is a band-aid for this year and he has a number of holes. Cameron Johnson might be an answer here in the future but not yet.

The center position is a mess. Dixon brought in Maia and ANO to fill in for this year but once again they are average at best. Some good nights but overall just bodies.

We have strong players at the forward position but when you are surrounded by weak guards and centers, it just does not work against the top teams.

I love when announcers talk about how deep we are and that teams like Duke play 6-7 players. The reality is we are 9 deep because we don't have five elite players that have separated themselves. Would Chris Jones be playing for Duke? You know the answer.

Dixon continues to disappoint on the recruiting trail and this is the result. We are never going to reach the levels from five years ago unless he turns this around.

The next class looks promising but I will wait to make my judgment until they are signed and making an impact on campus.
