Another milestone

Someone send that to his twitter. He blocked me when I thanked him for hiring the offensive genius who coached us to 7 first half points vs UVA.

That's awesome!

I commend you for that action.

No disrespect to you King, and I don't think there is anything inappropriate about the post. And it's certainly relevant.

But I'm almost to the point where I don't want anymore information telling us how bad this season has been.

We know.

I’ve made a conscious effort to try and stay out of the - I’ll just call it bashing most of the season. And I assumed there might be some folks who thought it would have been better off with this not being posted. But as you said it is relevant.

And of course we all know it’s bad. The were other 2 things that were eye opening. One was someone posting our avg margin of loss. And the other was was the post that noted there may have only been 2 worse teams historically.

This wasn’t meant to fan any flames believe me. Just thought it was kind of remarkable and obviously not in a good way.

I hear you. And I know it wasn't meant to fan flames. And I know you understand the notion I was addressing.

It's good for the "Give Stallings another year crowd" to see just how much he doesn't deserve to coach in the ACC tourney, let alone another year. They seem to be in denial as to just how bad this season was, not to mention last season's debacle with the more talented players.

Here I am - piling on the notion earlier in the thread I was against -- but there should be no denial about how this season was.

Yea I can’t say that was specifically part of my thought process. But there was an element of we all know it was bad but here’s another nugget showing how bad it truly was.

I think the one thing it does though is to point out something that some of us had posted from the very start this season. It is very, very difficult for a D1 basketball team to have a bagel in the win column in conference games. Especially one in a P6 conference.

I don't disagree. I believed almost to the end that we would win at least one because of how hard it is not to win one.

I'm just tired of thinking about it I guess.

In a very subtle way, I almost get the same feeling. But it's hard to argue against the notion that the extreme severity of our situation is newsworthy.
Friend in Kansas City texted me , Pitt was a topic of sports talk radio this week.
The topic “how hard must it be for Pitt fans right now?”
The jumping off point was Dixon winning 4 in a row and well positioned for a ncaa bid in year 2 at a historical doormat- where Pitt is historically bad 2 years later.

Frankly, we are a national punchline.

It's all over ESPNU on Sirius/XM. We are the punchline of every joke about the worst in college basketball, and Stallings is front and center. This week is going to be very interesting, especially after Tuesday.

Especially those who argue that we went 0-18 because Ryan Luther got hurt and that wasn't KS's fault. This team was all-time historically bad. Ryan Luther isn't fixing that.

That is exactly what I based my $100.00 barroom bet on. Well, I was wrong.

We certainly have been taking the punches. Bilas punched us on ESPN radio recently when he said, "it's not as if Virginia played Pittsburgh 15 times".

And they were the same people who were pissed that Dixon recruited Luther in the first place because he wasn't highly ranked.....

I'm NOT defending Stallings in the slightest. Those who know me are well aware that I predicted he'd be horrible here from the beginning. But, one point cries out to be made.

With good coaching, freshmen get better.

Ryan had one or two decent performances as a freshman in a reserve role. Many fans thought he was a mistake. Several fans who sat near me openly mocked him for much of the season his SOPHOMORE year.

Yet, as a senior, he was averaging a double-double when he went down.

Kids like Terrell Brown, Carr and Stewart could become solid players in a couple seasons. Maybe Davis as a "3-and-D" guy, although he's a bit more of a reach. I don't think many, perhaps most, of Stallings' recruits are ACC-capable players, but a few have some promise, with time.

I know you're not defending Stallings. I'm not either. He was one of the worst hires ever in college hoops-not just Pitt hoops.
