Leaving 2 scholarships open with no legit top end talent outside of Hugley and the transfer portal would be almost malfeasance as much as year 2 when they had 12 on scholarship, Horton couldn’t play and Kene/George were on scholarship. Leaving one open sure but 2 open leaves you extremely vulnerable to using walkons too much just to get a look in practice.

Especially since the best walk-on we’ve had in a while is gone (I know we put him on scholarship this year), and another has graduated.

Agreed - there are no good reasons to leave 2 ships open. Hopefully he brings in 1-2 more players that can be part of the rotation.

I don't mind leaving one open, because you just never know when a guy is going to pop up late and leaving one open gives you some flexibility. For instance, Ontario Lett didn't sign until August. If the 2022 version of Ontario Lett pops up in August you'd want to be able to take that guy.

But you also don't turn down a guy who could help you to leave one open. And you don't leave more than one open. It's not like you can roll the open scholarships over to next year.
