Anyone ever try Awaken 180 or any of these weight loss programs?

High protein diets are not healthy. One does not store protein. If excess protein is consumed, it has to be excreted by the kidneys. Anyone with borderline kidney function could be in trouble. I had a 17 yr old patient who went into kidney failure after taking protein supplements to gain weight. Unless you have poor protein intake, extra protein has no use. That is assuming the protein intake is good quality protein.many plant proteins are not good quality ie peanut butter.
So, we had this conference this week and had a company dinner at a really nice steakhouse. Had kind of a Prixe Fixe menu that had apps and started with a nice salad. I noticed a coworker across the table with me who didn't touch his salad. I finally asked "Mike, what the ****...dont you eat salads?" He said "No, I don't like vegetables". I said, "I am not expecting a vegetarian, but that is weird". (Actual conversation by the way). He said " Caveman diet". I said "Caveman's average age was 30 years old. Good luck with that choice of lifestyle!" And walked away.

Its calories in and calories out. You can do things to reduce appetite for calories in and things to Improve metabolism for calories out. There are food choices that make you full and food choices that help and hurt metabolism.

Walk 16-20 miles a week and lay off the sugar (and sodium)
Since moving to Barcelona, I have been averaging walking 15 miles per week per an app on my phone. I am eating less not because I started a diet but because I am full without finishing my plate. We seldom eat desert; again simply because we already are full.

I still occasionally eat high calorie snacks, which always has been a problem (potato chips, cookies, donuts), and we do eat gelato 2 or 3 times a week.

I have lost 8.8 kgs, which is about 19.5 pounds. If I tell you how much Masha has lost, I am a dead man, but she is doing well too.

Anyone try a meal delivery service? I’ve done a few and like them. But I find them too small. I do a 16/8 intermittent fast. About 500 calories for lunch. The meals I’ve gotten for dinner are usually in the 500-650 calorie range. That simply isn’t enough for me for the day. I wish I could find one that does about n 800 to 900 calorie serving. That and a small salad would be perfect.

I think I found your missing 8.8 kgs.

You are welcome to have them back.

So let’s say I want to drop 15 pounds and keep it off. And let’s say I have 1500 calories to start my day and burn 500 in exercise. That’s 2000 calories for my daily goal.

Should I get up close to that goal of 2000 every day or stay down around 1500-1600 of calories taken in?

Not all proteins are the same. For example, your body will absorb more of the protein in an egg than a whey protein. Basically, the protein grams in the food is kinda irrelevant if your body isn't absorbing most of it.
That's it. The "secret sauce" is not just caloric in/vs calories consumed. It is how and what these calories are composed of. Because your metabolism processes these differently.

Really not enough information to say for sure. If you're very obese, yeah, that probably works.

Correct! To make it simple: there are 3500 calories per pound. If you burn 100 calories per day fewer than you consume, you lose 1 pound in 35 days. One 12 oz can of soda has 150 calories(juice 160 calories). By changing one sugar containing drink to water, you lose 1 pound per 22 days.

But still......it is also about metabolism, and how your body processes and stores the energy (calories) so the types of calories matter. Even diet soft drinks, they cause your system to react as it is "sugar" and it doesn't metabolize as well as it should.

Sugar, which we all love, is really bad for you. Fat, which is alot more despised, is not nearly as bad for you.

It is still calories in versus calories out! Calories out will vary with activity and metabolism, but calories in does not change.

I haven’t tried Awaken 180 specifically, but I’ve explored a few weight loss programs in the past. They can be hit or miss depending on what fits your lifestyle. I once followed a program that focused on meal prepping, and it really helped me stay on track. It was cool to see how planning ahead made a difference in my cravings and energy levels.

I’ve also heard some people talk about the best anabolic steroids in Canada as a way to enhance their workouts and help with weight loss. While that might be tempting, I think focusing on a solid diet and exercise routine first is the way to go.

No? Shit. I'll tell my endocrinologist that some guy on the internet said my A1C didn't drop because of the drug despite the fact that my weight has stayed the same as it was before I started taking the drug.
Since this was bumped
Ask your endo why you didn’t start on glyburide (which similarly stimulates insulin production to lower A1C, along with metformin - which are both generic meds which combined lower A1C by 2%
Ozempic lowers it by 1.4-1.6% on average/

Ozempic’s value is lowering motility (not absorbing glucose from food as quickly ) , tricking your brain to feel full sooner , and some
Insulin stimulation.
So as noted - losing weight by consuming less to have lower average blood glucose levels (which is what A1C measures )

GLP-1s are for folks who failed oral therapy - not front line .

Without getting into too many details (because I don't care to discuss) I can't take sulfonylureas. At least not anymore. Been at this for a while so there isn't much that hasn't been tried. For what it's worth, they gave up on Ozempic because of availability of the dose I need and I started on a different GLP-1. I'll find out in a few weeks if that's made a difference.

Mounjara is my guess.
Hope it helps !

Lift weights CONSISTENTLY… focus on adding lean muscle and the fat will fall off over time.
Yeah - when you add muscle, it burns fat when you sleep - called the thermic effect I think.

I'm still hitting the gym ~hard at 67 and eat very clean - mostly organic - no red meat or alcohol - just lean chicken occasionally in a salad.

I would encourage everyone to read the book "Fat Chance" - condems the food industry and the FDA among others - author is a pediatrician - Lustig iirc.

Prepping is huge difference maker in my house. My wife and I buy veggies all the time. When we are not lazy and we prep it (washing them, peeling them, and storing them cut up) we eat them as healthy snacks. When we are lazy and just buy them but throw them in the fridge un prepped... we eat junk and end up throwing half of the produce away.

Same thing with meal prepping. When we take time to plan our meals for the week, we choice and make healthy choices. When we are lazy and don't preplan, we eat out a lot, and most choices are not healthy.

The best diet in the world.
While sure, that is generally true. A diet that is heavy on veggies (not fruits) some protein, some fat like butter and olive oil, practically no sugar that includes fructose, glutens and empty carbs you ramp up your metabolism. Some people don't realize consuming diet sodas helps a little, but your body reacts to this as sugar so it acts like it has to store calories and slows down your metabolism.

Respectfully ,
That’s simply not true regarding aspartame or sucralose , at least according to any medical paper I’ve read .
It’s sweeter so they use considerably less - so it contributes almost no calories and doesn’t raise blood sugar levels

of course - drinking water is the healthiest option .

See......I have read counter arguments. I dunno. I think stevia is recomended but the two you mentioned aren't because stevia is plant based. But Awaken 180 is completely against fruits, and I guess it is strictly a weight loss program but eating fruits along with veggies seems to be some of the healthiest things one can do.

I do intermittent fasting more for my blood sugar than weight loss, but it drops weight off me very easily, too.
IF plus paleo type eating will work wonders for sugar, growth hormone, testosterone, mood, and dropping fat.

Also, get your testosterone checked. If it's low that will make you gain weight in all the wrong places. There are many options. I've been on clomid for years now and my body transformed in my 40s.

Obviously, they prefer you didn't eat any of that stuff at all but my endo agreed with @PittPharm2002 on that one. I think you have to have excessively high amounts for your body to notice.

I don't know anything about the Awaken program but I don't see why fruits are so bad. They usually have very simple sugars that break down easily. I lost a butt load of weight about ten years ago. Over 100 pounds. I don't need shots or anything for that. It really does come down to what you eat and how much. I'd rather see someone eat fruit and veggies and a decent piece of meat. Anything processed or anything from a restaurant is usually pretty bad. Just too much salt and other crap. Our food really isn't that good for us.

So- what is paleo ?
No carbs ?
Because things like Atkins puts your body into ketosis - so needs to be monitored regularly with medical advice . Or what puts Type 1s into the ER.
Otherwise you’ll be wrecking your kidneys
Drink plenty of water constantly !
You’re going to need to urinate a lot .

No. I don't do full on Atkins or whatever. Never did. By paleo I mean high protein, mostly from high fat meats, heavy on the vegetables, and avoid added sugars. Fruit is fine also. I have no problem pounding brown and wild rice, potatoes, etc. Nobody is going to the ER for eating normally.

Losing a lot of weight is the easiest and the hardest thing to do when you're big. It's so much more mental than anything else.La 20 year old ,I could swing 30 pounds easily
20-25 years ago I could swing 30 pounds in weight pretty easily based on how much running and lifting I did .
Much less elastic now lol

I was speaking only to pure atkins .
It’s safe and effective if monitored .
Duke has an entire “Center For Living Center” which does it

Doing 5 flights of stairs a day also drops all cause mortality.
We live on the 5th floor. Masha weighs herself weekly and if she isn’t happy with the results takes the stairs for a few days. ( I take the stairs only if the elevator isn’t working. ) She says it works to get off the weight she gained.
