Powerade winners. Specifically MVW Alejandro Herrera , or the 132 champ Sam Hilligas? Current recruit McGill won title # 2.
Sounds painful
The RTC needs to grow. Facilities are important but what the top kids really want to know who they will be working out with. Look what John Gngrich has done for Meech and Samat has done with the light weights. Adding Nico this year was huge, but its just a start.
The university, the city, and the tradition, sell themselves. The staff are all personable people with obvious credentials and expertise. I have to believe the only thing holding back a constant flow of top notch kids and national championship contention is the RTC development. Right now, that financial mountain is a steep climb when considering the top five (and Lehigh).
So you're saying that we need a windfall donation from David Tepper? Does Pitt have any other alums who care about sports enough to write a big check to get this moving? The short answer is yes a better RTC is needed to compete.
If your expectation or dream is for Pitt to truly be a national championship contender then you are going to be disappointed because truly being in national championship contention (I am talking having a chance to win) is another animal that will not be achieved with just having a better RTC. Pitt should be winning the ACC every year and finishing in the top 6 or so almost every year at nationals considering where they are located in the most talent-rich state and in the most talent-rich area for wrestling. It takes a major financial commitment from both the school and the fans to build a NC competing program. I use PSU as an example, they had some individual national success but did not win anything until one booster made a massive donation and went out and got Cael and PSU had more advantages than Pitt being in the Big Ten. No team outside of the Big Ten has won a national championship in 12 years, this year will make 13, and no team will for the foreseeable future.
So enjoy the program and enjoy the ride but understand that competing for national championships will probably not happen.
