Pitt is what Pitt is

I don’t see any reason why Pitt can’t be a consistent 9 or 10 win team year in and out. Why you can’t have IMO is winning the ACC, and then 2 years later calling off a cliff and going 3-9. The vibes here were good when Pitt was 7-0, but finishing with 5 or 6 losses should put Narduzzi on the hottest of seats.
LMAO. Consistent 9 or 10 win team year in & out? That's absurd.

BTW, how's Deion doing at Colorado?

Mike Houston coached a D1-AA team in the CAA. Cignetti coached a team that weathered the COVID shortened season then successfully moved to the FBS Sun Belt and immediately won it-twice. Houston also laid a huge turd when he moved up to ECU.

I’m not focused on a couple played from the Clemson game. I’ve watched Narduzzi’s clownery on Saturdays for 10 seasons. He’s not a serious man, and he’s not a serious coach, and that’s reflected in the way his teams play. He’s a knucklehead.

As for the staying power, you might be right. But Cignetti’s instant success has IU opening the purse strings and making a commitment to trying to become a factor. They won’t ever recruit too HS talent. But they will be able to buy a lot of good portal guys every year.

The more interesting question will be to see how he does when he loses Shanahan to a bigger better job.
JMU didn't win the Sun Belt. They weren't even eligible to play in the Conference Championship.

The Narduzzi comments are just ridiculous.

What does firing Narduzzi accomplish? How does that end Pitt's run of mediocrity?

There's a difference between having reasonable, realistic expectations and accepting mediocrity. You can't have a $100K salary and expect to own a Bentley, beach house, and private jet.
I am not advocating the firing of Narduzzi but keeping him also will not end the mediocrity. 10 years has proven that. Replacing him with the best possible candidate will yield worst, better or the same results. At least there is a chance for better. The question is whether the new powers that be are satisfied maintaining the status quo.

The difference between Indiana and us, is that they hired a better coach. They are 10-0 not because of a huge increase in their NIL budget, or a huge increase in their recruiting budget. It’s simply because they hired a better coach. If Indiana can be 10-0 and ranked in the top 5, so can Pitt.
I don’t know what part NIL played in the kids that came to Indiana this last off season but I read they had 30 transfers come in. Doubt it was all because of the opportunity to play for the good Cignetti. Money talks in all things, especially is days.

He had a bunch of d2 and low major transfers
Folks pretending Cignetti bought a team are idiots , including the senator

That's a HUGE assumption on your part. There is absolutely a chance, and a very good one, that Pitt will do worse.

There is no coaching change that can be made to end the mediocrity at Pitt. There is only one way possible to break that cycle. Start bringing in elite recruiting classes - both HS & portal talent. Recruiting has to be on par with Miami, Alabama, Georgia, tOSU, Oregon, Texas, etc.

If you can't even get your talent level on par with those schools, then you're only in the sport for shits & giggles and to take pride in some level of mediocrity. Pitt doesn't seem to have a donor base that is interested in making that happen.

2. Location

Guess it depends how you define location. Location is good in that we are in the middle of a pretty good recruiting footprint. Plus you have the closeness to the Steelers.

Location is bad in that you have PSU 3 hours to the east and OSU 3 hours to the west and WVU 90 minutes to the south. Plus the allure of ND who has always recruited this area.

But I think you probably mean location in that we can't have an on-campus stadium due to space & political constraints and have to play in a stadium that is too big for our needs which emphasizes this with hideous bright yellow seats.

That’s why our coaches are well compensated.
That’s on them .
Otherwise - fire them and buy cheap staff and funnel those
Millions into nil
Now you're just being ridiculous. If you want a competitive program, you shouldn't go cheap with either. It used to be on them. It's really not been that way for a long time.

The boosters that matter at Pitt probably love Narduzzi. He delivers competitive teams with a NIL budget that's in the bottom half of the league. They get reasonably competitive football on the cheap.

Coaches are well compensated everywhere. It's because guys like Jimmy Sexton know how to play boosters and administrators.

I just expect Duz's teams to play with more disclipine and for the coaches to stop making such terrible and easily avoidable mistakes on game day. I don't think this is too much to ask from a head coach who has been here for 10 years and makes millions a year. Even our best year's are always marred by some loss that never should have happened because the mistakes were so ridiculous and bush league that even high school teams don't make them.
Why would you have these expectations….in most of the seasons during his tenure Narduzzi’s teams have played sloppy and undisciplined FB. What we have seen the last month isn’t anything new. Details aren’t his thing. That’s how you lose on average 5 games per year. Of course, the clown show we saw last Saturday was a new low even for him.

Really dumb post!

No. I meant numbers 1 and 2. I don’t think the city location playing second fiddle to the Steelers is as good for business as advertised. Then you throw in point two.
