Any feedback about this young man's game is welcome. His team lost last night. Is he able to run an offense or has he grown out of the PG position? He likes JC so there's a chance.

He is pretty impressive...great court vision and awareness and he is a dead eye shooter. He will benefit a lot by playing off the ball.

Butler also has a freshman PG who is extremely impressive....devin carney. He is small right now, I think 5’9, but if he hits a growth spurt pitt needs to keep an eye on him as well.

"I would stop thinking about it.."

You should also stop posting about, as you stop thinking about it.

I watched the game. He's a smart player.
Can't tell much about his defense because he played the 5 role in a zone.
I think his 3 point shot needs work.
He'd be a nice player for a team like Pitt to limit our turn overs.
He's pretty great at finding the open man and he's smooth and in control going to the bucket.

Lol great chance. Belein is a great coach.
Is Michigan recruiting any other highly touted Point guards right now?

There has been one other person pounding the Morton to a big ten school, and that is SMF. Wonder if he is phil.

Of course we have to have somebody chime in on this on every thread about him.

It's the same pathetic poster who spends his life creating new usernames to troll Pitt message boards.

Regarding the OP, I've seen him play a few times in person. He's certainly legit, but don't think he's a PG at the next level. Likely a 2 or even a 3 on this team.

He actually needed to be more selfish last night and taken more offense on himself. Many times he gave the ball up and never got it back as teammates quickly chucked it up.

These are the teams that Morton has "warm" intetest in per 247. Tell me if you notice a trend.

Indiana
Purdue
Michigan
Ohio State
Northwestern
Marquette
Stanford
Pitt

It seems extremely obvious that he likes the Big Ten and schools that historically have success with the type of player he is.

I have seen him once in person and last nite also.My take, great vision , very good handle and passer, good move to the hoop but I would be a little concerned about his quickness and his jumping ability. Shooting skill is hard to gauge as crossover to the hoop is his go to move. I see him as a good point guard but I do know if he will be a big scorer in college and I am concerned about his defense. Obviously a legit D I player but not the second coming

Yeah that Butler team played a crazy fast game.

His 8th grade sister is taller than him

Here 's excellent and most of his team is mediocre or worse. I dont see any reason his game won't translate to being a good power conference starter eventually. He's pretty complete. He'd fit in well at Pitt because he's so good at getting fouled. Or maybe he wouldn't fit in because he makes them.

Matt Steinbrink just posted a detailed evaluation of Morton on the pay side of this forum, if anyone is interested.

Then it’s good to be the ones that different !

When was the last time Pitt had a coach that could recruit like Capel? This is why Pitt has a legit chance. No guarantee they get him but their foot is in the door with him.

This is the first good basketball team Butler has had since the early 90's when Mark Jula was the coach.

It has been a long long time since Butler has had top division one football talent. When they did, kids didn't opt for PITT.

Bill Rettig, PSU
Terry Hanratty, ND
Bill Saul, PSU
Ron Saul, MSU
Rich Saul, MSU

How far back are you going? 40 years? 50 years? Jeez. We have 2 kids from Butler on the current football roster.

At least two of those guys are dead. Two more are in their 70s. None of that has any relevance whatsoever to Ethan Morton.

Carney? If that is the case it is a sign he will grow, and if he does he will be the next big prospect from the area.

He better get a whole lot better then. He's not that impressive - a gunner with
a suspect handle. A real turnover machine Saturday night.

Moved to Butler from NA district before eighth grade. Father, who is 6'5", played at RMU.

The Minehart brothers came to Pitt, I think under Majors II

Besides PITT, who else offered football scholarships to the two Butler kids that are on the current PITT roster?

Being from Butler and a current PITT basketball season ticket holder, I would love to see Morton play for PITT. I just don't see that happening. PITT isn't as relevant there as Big Ten teams and ND.

Kradel was a well known recruit with quite a few offers. The other kid was a preferred walk-on.
