AP Top 100 of All Time

Remember that this is starting in 1936. Pitt had arguably the best team in the nation with "Pop" Warner ( 1915,1916,1918) and with Jock Sutherland's teams of 1929, 1931, and 1934 before this ranking system began.

Pitt is actually doing quite well in these Ratings and Rankings in the Two Most important Sports. Pitt leads the State of Pennsylvania.

Absolutely stunned that Temple made the list at all for football. Pop Warner's tenure there (that was the last stop in his storied career) must have garnered the Owls some points. (Warner's Owls were chosen for the very first Sugar Bowl.)

I was on Temple's campus last year and it has changed since I visited there in 1976 and 1980, and early 1990s. They have really develop the area with the Liacouras Center and come a long way since the Wayne Hardin days. I am told the President is bent on developing more facilities and to get into a Power Conference. They have a remarkable run of very good Coaches and they have higher standards for recruits to qualify.

Well, . . . that President (the one who was pushing for an on-campus stadium) recently got ousted, so we'll see . . . . I just hope we don't end up with another David Adamany (the one who tried to kill football at Temple).
