Assuming Eli does not play

It's also why we have to try and retain Coach Bell and also nurture his replacement with the same system if he does leave. One of Pat's biggest issues as a coach is he keeps changing the offensive style every few years. Should have hired a similar system coach to replace Whipple instead of flip flopping back to a pro style once again.

Cignettis offense wasn't wildly different than Whipples.

In fact it looked similar early on under Slovis.

The biggest issue is the lack of talent and depth he’s recruited .

Cignetti signed his severance by going with Jurkovec & Vellieux. Offense wasn't bad with Izzy and a serviceable Slovis. The injury to him in the Tennessee game changed the course of the season. He didn't get back to form until the last 2 games.

I get it you want to play the best guy to win the game. I just see zero upside to playing a walk-on at starting QB. You would think it would be a great opportunity to see what Dugger can do.

Kade Bell MUST be retained. He is the reason for the 7-0 start that the program had last year. His offensive approach finally brought the Pitt offense into the 21st century. The days of the "Pro-Style" offense being used are gone and need to stay that way. Bell's offense turned a Alabama backup into a start FBS QB. Who knows what would have happened if Holstein doesn't get injured?

So who is our qb for this bowl game? Are we going to see Dugger running around like a chicken with his head cut off??
Don't know who they will play at QB, but I sure hope it isn't Holstein. Don't care if he is 100% cleared by the doctors, he needs the time off to just heal from his injuries, especially the concussions. I would love to see Dugger be given a shot but if he plays, does that blow a season of his eligibility? If it does, it is not worth it.

Playing JD will not impact his redshirt . At least put ithe n a package of plays and not just running plays

Well, they have had a solid month to prepare for this game. I think it is going to be Dugger. Let's see what Cade Bell and the offensive coaches have put together. Dugger is a plus athlete, but, our line is stacked with minus athletes, which could lead to him getting maimed. I really had no interest in seeing this game, but, Dugger is going to make it fun if it's him.

Absolutely a perfect setting to go all in on Dugger! And if he can run maybe he's even a better fit for this offense, not like the walk on is any good.

Dugger right now is probably behind 2 walk in QB's and you want him to start at QB? Do want the chance to win the game or do you want to see the 5th or 6th string QB on the season's roster to start?
