Notre Dame is a first rate college program.
Times have change however and ND is not in the premier class anymore. Since everyone is on TV now, ND does not have the advantage that they once had. They still have the subways and the golden dome, but the "southern boys" and others aren't falling for the hype the way they used to.

Kelly has been a thorn in our side dating back to 2009 Cinci, moreso than anything in State College or Morgantown. I still think he is a very good coach but he might be getting burnt out there.

I doubt ND fires him for they seldom fire their HC, Kelly will probably just leave on his own in a year or two. ND is not the program of Rockne or Leahy of the 20th century, they are a distant level below Alabama, Ohio State etc., most years ND is good enough to win between 7 to 10 games.

I remember Willingham being fired for ND received some heat a/c he was a minority, Weis, you are probably right but I thought he walked on his own decision. I was thinking that other than Willingham ND last firing was back in the late 50's when Horning was QB and they experienced a couple losing seasons, one of those years their record may have been 1 and 9.
