Attendance

The Zoo was packed. The lower bowl maybe 60%. The upper bowl a few hundred.

Yeah. Me too! Just got home. Wintry drive back tonight. Not having seen the game on TV yet, what did you think of the 2 close out of bounds plays that they looked at forever and then gave to the Cards? Really tough to tell from my seats behind the Pitt bench since they were both under the other basket. Both were extremely critical possessions.

The one hit off of Toneys leg, correct call.
The other one did not have a good enough angle to see. So another correct call.

It wasn't a huge crowd, but the people that were there were into it. Considering the snow and 8pm tip, I think a lot of people must have understood that this was a golden opportunity to break the streak.

Yes. I was just curious. And snow can always be an important factor especially in the Pittsburgh area. i wasn't aware of that weather yesterday. I am spoiled down here near DC. We get enough of a snow storm to bother us much less frequently--but most here handle it less well, of course, when it does happen.

Hopefully given the win and a decent crowd despite snow bodes well for future ACC game attendance when the weather is better.

I said in another thread that the crowd, though not huge, managed to get pretty loud. I suspect that the fans who made it there were more hardcore fans and ones who are more vocal. There was a guy in the corner to my right (maybe section 118 or 119) who managed to start two Let’s Go Pitt cheers that spread to the whole arena. It was pretty impressive.

I have mentioned this before, but the growing attendance will be a gradual process. You can not expect them to sell out games quite yet (unless its a UNC or Duke). However, if this team keeps playing like they did tonight and they can pick up a few more top recruits each year, in a couple years we could be in a wait list situation again (at least 10K against middle of the pack ACC teams).

I watched on TV and the fans that were there (including the zoo) looked really into it. There were a few times you could see the upper bowl pretty empty, but had I not seen those shots, I am not sure I would have known that place was only half full.
