With this secondary Pitt is putting together, can you imagine the sack numbers someone would have? I mean Price last year was among the top in the country, and he was coming off an injured season. A legit monster could ring up 20 sacks and an award list as long as Aaron Donalds. I think we will see even this year some of the guys register big numbers, and we wont even have Wade or Ford yet.

I think most Pittsburghers, like me, love seeing a great defense. And we look like we are forming a great defense. Like the type that needs a name... so lets.

We may get quite a lot of sacks this year. Would be nice actually to get some high rated linebackers in here. I don't think the DE will be the issue

-Pitt was 16th in the country in sacks last year. 40th in rush defense, 56th in pass defense, 37th in yards per game given up. Turnover Margin was tied for 66th, which was a 0 flat for the season. That is the biggest area for improvement, creating turnovers. Obviously some of these stats are misleading because we all know some teams like to load the schedule up with cupcakes every week, teams like Penn State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, the creampuff schedulers while others like Pitt plays ooc games vs the likes of Top 10 teams like Notre Dame and Iowa. The defense will be better next year. Pitt loses 4 players total off the entire 2 Deep on defense, thats it. Secondary and Secondary Pressure is where we could use the most help along with DE's that can apply pressure. The 2 biggest names that can elevate us are Hendrix and Hamlin. Both could / should be upgrades over last year, and assuming everyone else improves, we will without question be better on defense.

Great assessment. I agree but hope the negative douches will shut up when the statistics don't improve over last year due to the competition

I think unless Hamlin is a Whitehead clone and miraculously plays AA CB as a Freshman, our secondary wont be as good right away this year. That and the schedule may be a factor in our defense needing 2 years to really start being a force

A healthy Mitchell is better than Pitts. Then u add in guys like Henderson and Jackson who RS + the incoming Fr. studs. Our DB's will be better this year. DT is the biggest concern.

A change in defensive performance is not simply a matter of measuring the +/- difference between old and new players. The whole is greater than the parts.

Narduzzi always talks about players playing faster when they clearly know their assignments and understand what others in the defense are doing, and they work consistently as a team.

Caprara talked this Spring about how different this year is than last. The team was in learning mode last year with Narduzzi's defense, but this year they know it, and are just tweaking and sharpening things now. That should lead to better overall team defense.

-Keyshon Camp just finished up powerlifting competition in Florida. One of the Top 5 strongest players in the entire state with a 430lb bench and 265lb power clean.

-Amir Watts needs to add some power, but he's got some great talent to work with too. Great swim move he has already to get to the QB. Both of these guys are talents.

It will take some time, but last year showed so much improvement, and if we can keep improving we will have quite an amazing D in a year or 2
