Austin to visit tomorrow

Austin (may start, though would be valuable as the 6th man)

I think Austin is a wash with Nike, Jeffress can be more useful than Santos, and year 2 of the twins should be better than year 1. If Lowe or CC are also coming off the bench, that is better depth than last year.

Ok, but I differ and here's
why. We get a Burton type
and we don't have to get a
Cummings replacement,
because we have Dior at the
point and a frosh (Lowe) as
a backup pg. A Burton type
would also give us a third
guard who can handle the
point, and also off guard.
Austin can play the 3 in
the above scenario as long
as we can come up with
another off guard. He can
also play off guard on occasion.
We'll obviously know more
after all are signed and we
see where the pieces fit.
Just my two cents.
I guess we could say Austin replaces Elliott/Nike
Leggett would be Burton (who could be the emergency/insurance point)
I do not trust Dior lasting the season. So...I want a true point and a physical rebounder/defender
I don’t know how Burton is replaceable, his skill set was unique and made what Pitt did very successful. The offense is going to have to change a bit, I should say amenable to some change but hopefully even for the better.

really beieve the key is
replacing Burton. That
would be insurance for
Dior, especially if something
goes wrong with him, either
on/or off the court. Again,
this is all conecture until
we actually see what and
whom Capel actually gets
in here.
Well the old addage says
"nobody is irreplaceable,"
and i believe that both in
life and of course Bball.
All we're talking about is
a player who can play
both the point and the
off guard (2) position.
So much of the game
is positionless anyway
these days. Now, can
Capel come up with
one through the portal?

He's not. We should stop comparing everyone
Leggett got to the foul line 174 times last season. Sounds very. Burton like to me.
He also tossed up over 8 threes a game, which doesn't sound very Burton like to me.
They are very different players, both of whom happen to find their way to the line frequently.
Athletic 3 that rebounds, blocks shots and has decent range seems like a great start to transfer portal season. Much can happen b/t now and November but I would think he projects as a starter. Looking forward to who else we bring onboard.
I love upgrading the team's athleticism. I think Austin, Dior, and Lowe definitely accomplish that. I think last year's team could have used more of it.
Yeah - I don’t think you simply replace individuals with hope of the same player . Every team is going to be different.
What’s clear to me is Capel wants to space the floor , let players create , and have players who can make open jump shots .
I love this kid. Can’t believe we got him so quick. Agree he reminds me of Gil Brown or even Julius Page. Already excited about next year HTP
